Will a Complete Rem 700 300 BLK be available?
For those of us who don't wish to buy a .223 Remington 700 and then convert, will there be an option to purchase a complete 700 in 300 BLK? If so, which barrel profile(s) will be available?

We will have complete Model 7s first. Light barrels only.
Re: Will a Complete Rem 700 300 BLK be available?
Edit: I just read online that the Model 7 receiver is in some respects a scaled-down 700 receiver (1/2 inch shorter, etc.). I see that your barrels are compatible with either the 700 or Model 7, but I imagine things like bolts and stocks are not compatible between the 700 and Model 7.silencertalk wrote:We will have complete Model 7s first. My ideal build is a basic 700 with the medium / heavy contour 16" barrel, something I can enjoy now and upgrade later. I found 700 receivers at Brownell's, but at $500 apiece, it doesn't seem like a fair deal:

I found that too and almost went for it. However, then, I went to Bass Pro and found a 700 SPS in .223 for $549 (with a $40 rebate)JPratt06 wrote:Please excuse my ignorance, but is there any difference between the receiver and bolt of a 700 and that of a Model 7?silencertalk wrote:We will have complete Model 7s first. I didn't want to wait for a pre-built 700-style Remington, so I went ahead and paid-to-play, bought the 700SPS and the 300BLK barrel from AAC (so total cost for the gun will be $910, not including a few tools and the go and no-go gauges)
When Remington/AAC starts shipping the Remington 7 in 300BLK, it will be much cheaper than what I'm paying. Just from seeing other Remington 700s and model 7's in that area, I'd look (and like to see) for a $600 price, maybe lower (just my guess though)

Before the Shot Show.

Well it looks like you'll have better stock options using that 700 action. I don't know anything about stock options for the smaller receiver.chrismartin wrote:I found that too and almost went for it. Two weeks.
Also are there plans for a 700 with a medium contour barrel?
I'm going to hold out until complete guns and components are more available.

We have no plans to make Remington 700s. Only Model-7s.

Interesting. Is the timeline still to have the light contour 7's out before the SHOT Show? How about medium contour?silencertalk wrote:We have no plans to make Remington 700s. Only Model-7s.
Thanks for the prompt response.

Any exact date for the Model 7?
Will it fit in any of Remingston's chassis systems, Choate folding sniper-stock, AICS?
Is subsonic ammo commercially available?
MSRP¿

We are unsure of the lead times on some parts, so I cannot predict when it will be done. Remington is making custom actions for us.
Price will be low.
Subsonic ammo will be out in about a month.

Any POI shift with the lightweight barrel? Any suggestions on where to source a fake suppressor for the beast? I don't yet own a 30 cal can and I like to overkill thread protection.
Perhaps whip me up a non-mount brake for the. 300?

Re: Will a Complete Rem 700 300 BLK be available?
Shift is not noticeable between a medium barrel and the lightweight. Even though it's called lightweight, it's not like it flexes all over the place.
As for a fake can, i can't help you as i can't stand them. The included thread protector will do a perfectly fine job of protecting the threads.. or you can use a FH or brake.

I don't even consider that one should use a heavier barrel to avoid POI shift. Shift happens.

could a .300BLK non-mount brake be fabricated for less than $150? Bore out and rethread?
Will the rifle's stock be available in OD green? Mossy Oak isn't my fave. Realtree is more my style.

no, considering the regular mount brake is $150. you can buy those all day long though.DorikinGTSt wrote:could a .300BLK non-mount brake be fabricated for less than $150? Bore out and rethread?
The non-mount brake we currently make is 556 and i think too small to work with 7.62. A non-mount 762 brake is a future possibility, but i can't give any schedule.

Re: Will a Complete Rem 700 300 BLK be available?
I would easily pay $225 for a non-mount. I would buy one of the QD brakes if I could get an AAC fake 762 can with ratchet. Since there is none such beast I am out of luck.
Is there a rear ratched mount lying around the shop that could be purchased as-is for educational and theatrical purposes? A demilled one with the reg'd tube removed? Perhaps a piece for the thriving Form 1 market?
Will the bolt and receiver of the rifle be coated black like the 700 Blackout rifles?

Re: Will a Complete Rem 700 300 BLK be available?
A Model 7 with light weight barrel sounds interesting , however, I think it's not going to sell anywhere near what a similarly packaged 700 would. A 700 SPS Tactical version with a varmint contour barrel with a length in the 16"-18" range would be the bee's knees.
Do some market research on this. Go through the plethora of internet sites where people have shown their custom 300 Whispers, 300/.221 Fireballs, and the like. If it's a bolt rifle, you're going to see an overwhelming majority of 700's. I don't ever remember seeing a Model 7.
I'm not saying a Model 7 won't sell well, I just believe you're going to have to work 2x as hard to do so considering the immense popularity of its bigger brother.
I don't have a desire for a light weight Model 7 but would consider other offerings that may come out in the future.

There is no other factory bolt or lever gun that will be chambered for this cartridge that I know of. I care not of the fame of the 700. I care about launching heavy rocks quietly.
