looking for a can for 300WM and 308

Post by sawdustmaker »

looking to buy my first can and would like one for my lmt 308 and my 300 win mag. id love to shoot my 7 mag with it too.
i realize its all going to be a trade off with size weight cost and volume of 308 and 300. size and weight are the more important specs to me. and volume of 308 is more important than win mag

im having trouble finding out which suppressors are rated for 300wm. any help would be appreciated.

Check with Wild Bills gun in Molala ore. I purchased one from them made by Hairtrigger. Its a screw on but they will build QD if you wish. It works great on my 300 winmag and 308 win. and the price was $350.00 when I baught it in 2010....Good luck

I did a little more looking and found the SAS arbiter http://www.sas-llc.us/product1a.php looks really good and you have a choice of Stainless($600) or Titanium$(800).... and i like the thought of 13oz
had looked at the swr omega but its $100 more than than the titanium SAS and weighs 32oz
the aac is still on the table but idk

whats Suppressed Armament Systems reputation and have some of yall used this on a 308 and how does it compare to other more reputed 308 cans?
also i do not have a good concept of how much the 9 oz of weight difference between the SS and the Ti and if its worth $200. i feel like it is as this will prolly find itself on my AK and maybe even M4. any thoughts from experience would be much appreciated.

thx a bunch guys.

SD-
If the can will find it's way onto your AK and M4, then definitely stay away from the Ti cans. Ti loses a lot of its strength when it gets real hot, so rapid semi-auto is not a Ti can's friend.

What length barrel 300 WM?

Get yourself an AAC 762-SDN-6 can. I hear that if your barrle is over 24" on your 300 WM and your not shooting to fast it will work good, and u can put it on anything else .308 or smaller and shoot the hell out of it. It is more money but you know what they say.

On your 24" barrel, the 762-SDN-6 will be good with 300WM.

It should be available at the end of the month.

And, it's rated for 300 BLK down to 7", 5.56 down to 10", 308 down to 12.5". All full auto :)

Jason,
Do you happen to know how the sound performance is with a 24" 300 WM rifle and this can? Thanks.

There will be a 762sd in my future for the same reasons, I have 700 in 300wm(26in barrel), 2 in 308, a 308 cetme, an AR in 556(more to come also) and plans for a 300blk acr. I want one can to do it all and the 726 sd seems to fit the bill nicely. Hell I may end up buying a few of them.

Have dealt with them and their cans in the past and will never even go to their webpage again, I experienced terrible customer service and a simple threading job took over 30 weeks to get it back to me. Excuse after excuse after excuse and not a single one checked out.

I can't say enough good things about the SWR Omega, more than worth the cost/weight difference. SAS cans aren't as quiet as everyone on SH says, I have shot them comapred to the bog boys and doesn't hold muster in my experience.

+1 on the 762 SDN-6

If your going to run those... it's a solid bet.
