Handi Rifle?

Yes, I could see people wanting that, especially for the price.

No, for a non-auto one would only consider a bolt rifle.

Handi Rifle?

Post by silencertalk »

Would there be an interest in a 300 AAC BLACKOUT Handi-Rifle if it had a 5/8-24 16 inch light-weight threaded barrel, and a synthetic stock? MSRP could be about $329.

Might be a good youth rifle also. One nice thing - you could also get a 223 barrel. They are said to have excellent triggers.

That would be a pretty nifty affordable rifle. 8) Cheaper $$ than the Thompson Center line of single shots.

Hell, YES! So far, it's looking like it's gonna cost me more than that just to get a barrel for my Contender.

Yes!! Please do it. They aren't expensive rifles but can be turned in to very acceptable shooters with a few tricks. For the ranges one would traditionally shoot subsonic cartridges, this would be a fine host. And an affordable one too.

You could offer a complete rifle for less than the price of the 700 barrel? I fail to see a down side to that. If you do it with the black synthetic stock and it's threaded, then I will definitely buy one.

Wait, I see what you are doing. 8) This is the 'gateway' rifle to the 300 Blackout. It's eventually going to cost me a bunch more in the long run? You will get me in the door with something inexpensive, and next thing you know I'll need dies, then another 30 cal can, then an AR upper, then a Model 7, ect. It won't end. Very clever.

Well it would be an H&R rifle, not an AAC rifle. It seems like they can offer them for that price. That is what they are listed for.

I said no, only for one reason, a scope.

That's great if he rifle is $300-400 or whatever, but what am ongoing to do for a scope? If I'm looking at 300blk, I'm mostly looking at subsonic, esp in single shot.

So, if I'm in $300 for a rifle and $500 for a decent scope, what was the point?

I know the former owner of H&R/NEF, and have phone appt with him on monday. Maybe he will still have the pull needed to pursuade them to do it. It woulndnt take any more money for them to tool up for it. It would be a wise investment on thier part.

Really don't need pull. It takes someone to place a big order. If I order the first run of rifles they will make them.

It would be a good platform. I have a .357 Handi threaded that I shoot 38spl through.

For the money they charge, people buy them just to try a new round or to have another rifle in a round they already use.

Another poster already nailed a salient point. You can buy a complete Handi for the price of a Contender barrel. The Contender is a more refined action and is worth it's price, but it's hard to argue against a brand new US made sporting rifle for those prices.

Odd that GB deleted your thread.

I plan to rebarrel a remington SPR18. I think they are the best looking cheap single shot on the market.

We can sell you the rifle for $700 if that helps. You can change your vote if you want.

Is H&R making them, or are you having barrels made elsewhere?
