I need something more accurate and cleaner then my Charger, since I use it daily. I've never owned a Bolt .22LR Rifle. I want to SBR a bolt .22LR rifle to 8 or 10" barrel. It will only shoot 60 grain SSS ammo, so I will need a barrel with a 1:9 twist.
What rifle and silencer would you suggest? I have an Element but was thinking of getting a second .22 silencer for this gun only.
The gun needs to be quiet and accurate. Thanks.

I love my Ruger 77/22... my Volquartsen barrel in 1:9 is awesome... but a big, heavy beast. Cutting it down might be the way to go... and the 60gr SSS is an awesome thumper in a small package.
Would like to know if anyone has a source for a lighter weight barrel in 1:9...

A Savage MK2 can be adapted to accept a 10/22 barrel... So there is an easy way to get a 1/9 twist bolt action. I dont know about how accurate it will be with the 1/9 barrel but my stock barrel MK2 is a tack driver.

This seems to be a nice one. My dealer has one without the extra big rail on it and its a lot less than this ones msrp. Its a great deal for a threaded bolt gun that your looking for!

I decided to go with a 77/22 with this barrel. I have another thread going about this in the Silencer Talk forum. Thanks.

I have a 77/22 with the stainless 1:9 Volquartsen barrel.
Don't believe the haters that claim the 60gr ammo isn't accurate. I can hit a 1" circle every time at 50 yards with it using my purpose-built gun. Unfortunately, it doesn't shoot other subsonic ammo very well.
I also had Liberty make a Pinnacle II integral out of the same barrel. I'll post about it once the transfer is complete.

That carbon fiber barrel isn't 1:9 twist....will they do one custom? I think you would just be rolling the dice on whether it will stabilize the SSS.
Green Mountain has a 8" threaded 1:9 twist charger barrel that they might machine for a 77/22....and they are only $100/$110 for blued/stainless.

Clint Beyer makes some nice light acurrate barrels with 1:9 and 1:16 twist for the 77/22's, 10/22's and dedicatedgoshinkaibushi wrote:I love my Ruger 77/22... my Volquartsen barrel in 1:9 is awesome... but a big, heavy beast. As an alternative to SBRing , Savage makes a bolt-action , magazine-fed pistol . I have one . I use an SWR Spectre on it . Anschutz also makes one for more money ...

CZ 455 American. The barrels are easily removable, so threading them is cheap.
CZ makes threaded versions, but they use 1/2-20TPI I think, so you'd need an adapater if you already have a 1/2-28 threaded can.
