When do we get a 300blk barrel for the ACR

Post by Buzduk »

Just wondering when a barrel for the ACR is coming out? Seems like it would be the easiest swap of all!

Do you guys have any kind of plans later down the road or is it just not a viable option for some reason?

It is viable, but we are working on AR platforms now.

We are ready to go, as soon as bushmaster will cooperate and sell us the parrel parts, but apparently they dont like making money. If they would just sell us the locking collar even, we could do something. Pretty awesome that they sell a platform to customers based on the fact that it is a switch barrel, then they wont sell the barrels, or even the parts so that someone else can take up the slack!
We are running a special on replacement barrels for the acr in .223 Wylde (will run 5.56 safely). They are hand lapped match grade 416r stainless steel, and have the option of bead blasted or black, light, med, or heavy contours, 12.5 and 16" lengths.
$269. You also get your original barrel back. This doesnt help you if you want a BLK barrel though!
Everyone call Bushmaster....

You would need 13 parts. And the carbine piston is not even a Bushmaster part, but Remington Defense. They are just not set up to sell subassemblies.

we will all be old by the time this becomes a reality... I wouldn't hold my breath ... maybe a SCAR or even a MSAR would be better... how nice would that be to have a AUG in 300 blk!! talk about quick change barrel! ... and a base MSAR can be had for $999 ....

We don't make those guns. You could ask them to make the barrels and let us know how it works out for you.

Glad to hear it. As an ACR owner I think its safe to say we have patiently waited. It'd be nice to actually see something come of it. The 300 Blackout would be a considerable first step in introducing what Magpul originally set out to do. multiple caliber change out.

Well, the thing is - Remington tested lots of materials for the piston and after looking at them on high speed video for flex and doing hundreds of thousands of rounds of testing and actually ruling out materials, finishes, and heat-treats based on the results, it would be really good to be able to buy Remington pistons.

Robert,

Get us some of those Remington pistons and I will be forever grateful. While your at it, get some of those handguards or make some copies of the ones you have.

This. Thats why Im not making said parts, well partly why, the other part is that I would mostly get sued into oblivion. At least they wouldnt get much out of me!

"They are just not set up to sell sub assemblies."

Alas, the lack of response other than "keep waiting", and the fact they are not setup to accommodate the platform, gunsmiths, and customers is why I will likely never have one. When the economies of scale and the tests of time prove the ACR to be a reasonable choice then and only then should anyone buy one with any need for other than 5.56.

Right now its a top draft pick failing out of the NFL due to missing expectations and a lack of follow up to the hype and promises.

When do we see the modern warfare 3 edition?

Well, I am on this now. Then again, I am on the 300 BLK ammo and that has been too slow. But this is a lot more predictable. And ammo is moving forward continuously with 125 grain match ammo shipping to certain customers starting tomorrow.

Glad to hear that. I notice that Midway seems to have enough supply for subsonic 300BLK (well they haven't gone out of stock on their website for a while) and I'm hoping that supersonic will come soon.

Is that $12 ish supersonic ammo on Midway the regular supersonic or the "low cost" supersonic? Thanks.

$12 is low cost.

The upcoming match ammo is $28.99.

So it turns out that we had a 16 inch ACR in 300 AAC BLACKOUT at the silencer shoot. I did not know about it or else I would have had some videos made.
