Sig 556 as good as a swiss rifle? Should I get a 551 or 550?

I was extremly excited about the Sig 556R 7.62x39 and it was everything that I wanted in a rifle. I am very disapointed in it and went back to my AK as a go to rifle. I dont trust the AR as far as I can throw it. I prefer rifles that will run for a few weeks in the field at a time with minimal up keep. I am going with a Scar 17 but am looking for a 5.56 as well.

Does the 5.56 sig run like the battle proven swiss rifle? What are the issues? Is the 550, or 551 an exact copy of the swiss rifle? Would I be better off with a Scar 16?

I'm extremely happy with my Sig 556. My Son also has one that has been a great rifle.
Having said that, there are reports of QC at SIG going down hill for a peroid of time. It seems to be rebounding at this time so you might want to look at newer production. Both of ours are older and seem to have been made before the issues you may read about.

the US rifles are not near as nice as the swiss rifles. If you want one, bite the bullet and get a 550 or 551

I have two 551s, a semi auto 550, and a 552. They are just great. I don't know much about the 556.
