I bought one of those unfinished Tacticools from Midway today after seeing they were in-stock in this thread and canceled a backorder I had with Boyd's; using the TacRep110 promotion code ($10 off $50+ order) the stock was <$85 shipped.

I got to handle a MKII-TR today and was pleased with the Tacticool's ergonomics; depending on how the stock from Midway finishes out I very well may cancel the Manners T4 I have ordered for my FV-SR.

My unfinished Tacticool arrived today...looks good but unfortunately didn't include swivel studs like in the item's photo or item description.

Called MidwayUSA and they credited $10 back on the AMEX I used to purchase the stock, so that I could get any studs I wanted, anywhere, at my convenience.

Great customer service IMO!

This is awesome, please post some pictures of your stocks when they are finished! Any ideas what type of finishes you go with?

I spoke with a Boyd's rep today and she said that they are coating Tacticool today and tomorrow. Shouldn't be much longer on the ones that are back ordered.

Turned out pretty good for an unfinished stock completed by a guy with no artistic ability...

Colors are Krylon Ultra Flat Khaki & OD, finished with Krylon Matte Clear.

Nope - barreled action & DIP bottom metal/trigger guard went together quite nicely. Barrel channel is "tight" but still free floated; might end up relieving it a bit but don't think I *need* to.

The bottom metal inlet is a little shallow for the DIP product leading to a little "proud metal", but I don't care about that.

I hope to shoot it soon, and depending how it does I may or may not bed it.

Fantastic work on the paint job! Is that first photo showing texture in the gripping areas?

Yeah, the first picture is after I shot some Rustoleum "stone" textured paint on the grip & forearm. That was the most time-consuming part of the job; took my time taping it up just right and then the textured paint took 6 full hours to dry (mid 40s and rainy).

VERY happy with how it feels though!

VERY nice! Midway is apparently already out of stock, though, damn it.

Received my Boyd's stock Friday and promptly installed it on my MK ii. Only issue I had was the stock rear bolt is not long enough. I went to Ace today but it seems like the thread pitch is some proprietary one. Anyone else have this issue?

DIP has them along with heavy bottom metal plates or I believe You can just order the bolts/screws in a seperate pack.

Thanks. Found that a few days ago actually and ordered them. Unfortunately they are on back-order so who knows when they will actually ship.

It took me FOREVER, but I finally bought a Boyd's stock. My next step is to modify my rifle so I can mount my cheap Gen 1 NV scope, and deal with the zombie armadillo invasion that takes place every night!

That IS cool. I like the way extra mags are carried in those routed areas.

My Tacticool stock assembly went fine. The forward takedown bolt - the large bolt that goes through the magazine floorplate into the lug on the barrel - was too long, but that was an easy fix.

I like the appearance and ergonomics of this stock. It's an inexpensive way to really dress up a modestly priced but overperforming bolt .22 rifle.

Some pics of the Boyd's stock with my Savage installed... Ergonomics are outstanding. Well worth the money. And it sets it apart, a bit, from all the standard bolt .22's out there.

The suppressor is a Bowers' CAC-22, all stainless. This setup is quieter than my spring air rifle with target or subsonic loads. While not worth the money and/or hassle, it would have been interesting to SBR it and cut it down to about 12". I'd lose some accuracy, but gain in handling, and in reduced velocity.
