The new R51 does look like a really good carry pistol. The fixed threaded barrel with a delayed blowback is a wonderful little feature, no question about that. I like the R51 because now that my state has a mag capacity limit I've been looking at single stack handguns. I'll wait to see how these do before I shell out any dough for any pocket autos.

Funny, looks like a great CC piece to me. Contoured, no snag surfaces, easy to conceal. And finally something bigger than 380.

Yep, <6" long <4.5" high ... there's only 15 maybe 20 guns in 9mm and 40S&W in this category ... maybe one in .45 ACP too

yea i already have a keltec pf9 and i would recommend it to anyone wanting a "slim" 9 its been a great pistol and its very cheap. I really like the single action trigger and grip safety. i will also like the replaceable grip panels with some rosewood it would look awesome.

I have a pf9 too. This Remington looks like a step up.

I see my last post is is confusing. I meant I like the single action and grip safety of the r51. And @jlwillams I tgought the lc9 was supposed to be a step up from the pf9 as well and I owned both at one time now I only own the keltec. IMO the lc9 is just a heavier version of the keltec. There was not one thing it did better and thing it did worse like not fire without a magazine inserted and also had a loaded flag and thumb safety.

The pf9 is 12oz empty and I use the plus1 pinky rests with 9 rounds it feels the same as a smith and wesson 642 with 5 rounds. and its FLAT for pocket carry the jframe is hard to beat for IWB the pf9 and other slim9s carry awesome to me its about options. And I really want this Remington R51 with a threaded barrel and a short heavy fat efficient 9mm can for it.

I like the slim, light package of the pf9, but I'm not so crazy about the cheapness of KelTec. There are other single stack 9mm pocket guns around and I've been looking at replacing the KekTec with something better for a while (looking at the Kahr). This new Remington really looks like it has a lot going for it, so now I'm holding off on anything until this comes out.

The threaded barrel, once it becomes available, might be a fun toy and conversation piece ... two weeks?

But I don't put threaded barrel high on the list of required features for a carry piece.

Got to fondle the R51 at the SHOT Show, I'm sold. Threaded barrels will be made by Storm Lake (now owned by Remington). They've changed Pedersen's design somewhat and simplified it. The youtube clips for disassembly and assembly of the 51 on unblinkingeye.com show that the grip safety had to be squeezed to rack the slide back or drop the slide as well as pull the trigger. The R51 only requires the grip safety depressed to pull the trigger. All in all, I liked the feel of the gun and hope to have one before Christmass!

Well, I've had my R51 for over a month now and have put just about 100 rounds through it. I really like it. The trigger pull is crisp, recoil is different as the gun sits lower in the hand. The sights on mine are dead nuts at about 7-10 yards. Now I need a threaded barrel, and no one makes one yet. I've found out that the Remington factory threaded barrel (that's not out yet) is going to be offered in M13.5x1 LH, just like Sig's. That doesn't do me any good because I need one in 1/2-28. Storm Lake, who is supposedly going to be offering the barrels won't answer the phone or emails concerning the R51.

Well here it is over 4 years later and Remington still hasn't made a threaded barrel for the R51. I was about to make my own barrel with I discovered the R51 chat room and there was a guy that made some threaded R51 barrels. Here's the link to the company: https://www.dangerco.us/ They are $125. Bought one for my gun last May. It took me a little bit of tinkering to get my Thompson Machine BDSD (a variant of their Poseidon wipe can) to screw on. There was some tolerance stacking going on. The Dangerco barrel was at the high end of acceptable thread pitch dimeter and the TM BDSD was at the low end, but with a little work and the judicious use of a 1/2-28 tap and die I got it to fit.

This is an awesome combination. The TM BDSD, like the Poseidon is a wipe can and is meant to be shot wet. Charged up with water based wire pulling gel and a fresh wipe, I can get about 10ish rounds through the can before I need to change the wipe and recharge the gel. To my ears, it's on par with my Sig P228 with my Octane 45 (with 9mm end cap) quiet for the first 4 rounds. All in all it's everything I hoped it would be when I bought the gun and the can. It sucks that I had to wait so long to enjoy it.

I have one also and a Dangerco barrel. My Poseidon threaded right on. It works well. I tried my old Shadow 9 with a spacer to pick the booster and it did not cycle. Will try again another time. I like the pistol a lot.
