Best .22 Host for 22Sparrow - Updated with pics

Post by goteron »

Looking to buy either a Mark III, 22/45, or Buckmark. I am leaning towards the 22/45. I want to build a setup close to what is pictured here.

What are the major differences between the Mark III, 22/45 and buckmark. I plan on putting a Bushnell TRS and TLR-2 on it.

I just saw USP9C's 22/45 Spectre combo, looks good, and I am leaning toward the 22/45

Thanks

Id get a MKIII over the 22/45.I had the 22/45 and hated the fact that I couldnt put different grips on it so I sold it.

I have seen the grip mod and mag disconnect mod for it, so. Would probably do those. What about the controls, safety, slide release, mag release?

I have a MKIII 22/45 and a MKII stainless, both with 4.5" Pac-Lite barrels for hosts pistol wise. I disabled all the extra crap on the 22/45 that is on all the MKIII's. I am more than pleased with the suppression the Silencerco Sparrow does on those hosts. Never tried it on a Buckmark, but I will at some point.

On a side note, it sounds spooky quiet on a CZ 452 American as well. ;)

Also, you can put different grips on the 22/45. Just have to do a slight mod, which I did (among other mods). There are several mods that can be done, just look around at the rimfirecentral forums:

I looked at both the 22/45 and the MKIII and went with the MKIII b/c I wanted an all metal lower and I can change grips without dicking around with any mods. I had it threaded by Mike at Tornado Tech, who did a great job, and am waiting on my 22Sparrow paperwork.

The MK II/III retains a little more weight in the frame than the 22/45. This adds stability when shooting. The Pac-lite with a 22/45 frame is extremely light weight and I find it harder to keep still....

The 22/45 and TacSol combo is almost absurdly light without the can and sorta front heavy with it.

Personally I like the angle of the grip on the 22/45 more than the mark IIIs.....

I would definitely upgrade the front sight on the TacSol upper if you get it, the factory one is tough to see.

uspc9mm, I just added a fiber optic front sight to the order, thanks for the advice. I bought all the stuff to do the grip mod and mag disconnect mod. Hoping I can find a 22/45 at the gun show this weekend.

Finally got everything in. Still waiting on paperwork for the 22Sparrow, but so far, love the Pac-Lite. Here are some pictures.

I did the 1911 Grip Mod, Slingshot Mod, and Mag Disconnect Mod, plus added 1911 Bumper Pads for all the mags (From Tech Teach). Have a CAA TLL and Bushnell TRS-25 - $175 compared to what a H-1 and TLR-2 would have cost $650+

Super happy with this combination so far. Probably going to replace the trigger with a VQ when I get the chance.
