Sig 229 E2 ?

Post by Sniper1/24 »

I bought a Sig 229 E2 in 9mm awhile back and now want to suppress it (change in state law). I ordered a factory threaded barrel, and it seems that Sig changed the dimensions on the E2. The feed ramp of the barrel extends down farther, and the shape of the lockup area is also different. Has anybody else had the same problem?

Does the new barrel fit and function? I noticed they went to a big extractor on the new 229 e2.

The barrel fits into the slide just fine, but will not allow the slide do go onto the frame.

I had the same problem. Tried it in my friends NON-e2 229 and it dropped in perfectly. Same thing, feed ramp catches on the receiver when you try and put the slide back on. You can look at the stock E2 barrel and the threaded barrel and the differences are clearly visible.

Can someone put the two barrels side-by-side and photograph the differences?

I am selling a Gemtech threaded (European) P229 USTB barrel (I think it is an E2 as well) and it would be nice to see which one it matches.

This weekend I'll post a similar photo of the barrel I have and y'all will know wheter to buy one from SIG or Gemtech.

let me see if I can wrestle it back from my friend and I'll take some side-by-side comparison shots. it's clearly visible if you just hold the two side by side.

Sir,
Any interest in selling your 229 9mm bbl threaded. I am looking for one for my 229 9mm
DAK. Thank you.

I had the same thing happen recently. I bought the 9mm conversion kit for my .22 cal P229. The kit fit just fine with stock barrel, but the Sig threaded barrel would hit. I think the Sig threaded barrel is for the older models, including the german Sigs. I had a gunsmith cut back the feed ramp and it works now... I think Sig made some additional changes in 2012, because my conversion kit was sent with an E2 mag. (P229-1)
