Saw this at Academy today and had to share it.

That must be the largest container of live ammo I have ever seen in person.
If that's what you want, be SURE to bring in your coupons, boys! Hey, at least they had SOME 223 - this just wouldn't fit on the shelf. Which by the way was empty of 223 otherwise. Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket.
hahahahha

Saw the exact same thing at Kittery Trading Post in Maine last month.
Re: Not your typical box of ammo at the store
At that volume I'd want a better deal than $.52 a round. At $.62/rd for a case I would think that 12+ cases would get a better than $.10 discount.
Re: Not your typical box of ammo at the store
That's over 300 pounds of ammo ... the UPS man would not be happy.

Thats in the 500lb range if I recall the last drum I saw correctly!ericlw wrote:i was wondering how much that weighed.do you need a fork lift to move it?
Would not have expected to hear that the Kittery Trading post had those!
Re: Not your typical box of ammo at the store
Can I get your sack-boy to load that into my Prius?
Re: Not your typical box of ammo at the store
I was using 12,500 rounds at 183 or 185 grains per round so my calculation could be off plus I'm not taking into account the weight of the drum or the pallet ... just the amount of weight bearing down on the rounds at the bottom of the barrel.
ETA: recalculating for 12,500 rounds at 190 grains/round is 2 375 000 grains = 339.285714 pounds ... ammo only
