R.I.P. Toby (1/5/04-3/19/14)
Had no idea on 2/13, this would be among the last pics. First sign of trouble was 3/17 evening. Peed in crate (never happens), went outside and just laid down. Wouldn't eat (never happens). Taken to vet next morning. Blood platelets were extremely low. Then to specialist for ultrasound. It was a fast-developing tumor that had formed in the spleen and then moved into the liver. Abdominal bleeding was already occurring. Nothing we could have done. He wouldn't have made it another day and a half, at best. Wife had to handle all this without me, as I was in my last week of school and couldn't have left. Haven't felt up to spreading the ashes yet.
Here with his previously departed, half-sister, in happier times:

Sorry for your loss, been through similar situations.
Nothing you can do sometimes, critters are good at hiding their ills until it's too late to help them and routine vet visits don't test for stuff they don't complain about. The best you can do is let them go with dignity and hope someone will do the same for you some day.
We have a collection of ashes from all ours that have passed over the years. Not sure whose job it will be to spread them yet.

Sorry for your loss. It certainly can be tough.
We lost one of our girls to congestive heart failure at the end of July.
From the initial problem to her passing was just a couple of weeks. We did all we could, but still lost her. Sometimes, there just isn't anything you can do.

They're never here long enough.

Sorry for your loss. It is so hard as they are truly family.
Here's a quote a friend sent me when I lost my girl, Nora.
“Dogs' lives are too short. Their only fault, really.”

Hate to hear that. Animals become such a big part of our lives.
July 5th, 2016. The day that we moved from a soft tyranny to a hard tyranny.

Sorry about that. My 11 year old German Shepherd peed when I was petting him yesterday and has never done that. He was so ashamed. It could be something like this.

Yes, bladder control issues can sometimes indicate tumors. Definitely get him checked.
I'm not trying to scare you, it's just we had a similar issue with one or our pups years ago that didn't end so well because the problem was too far advanced.

Sorry for your loss. Pets are more than just animals they are family!
Going a little more discrete here due to some of my opinions...
