Any tyre review is rubbish if it doesn't have experimental data. Compare these two from BikeRadar:
Kenda Kountach: http://www.bikeradar.com/road/gear/cate ... yre-48235/
They describe it as a race clincher and "a fast rolling tyre".
S works Turbo: http://www.bikeradar.com/road/gear/cate ... -13-47807/
They give an identical four star review. They talk about its "extra volume" because 24mm is written on the side, but S works tires are undersized. There is no mention of using a measurement device. There is no mention of how "fast rolling it is".
Here is Anhalt's experimental rolling resistance data for the two:
Kenda Kountach 25C = .0049, 45W for pair @ 40kph
S works Turbo 24C = .0035, 32W for pair @ 40kph
I also doubt they have a clue regarding puncture resistance.

Re: Happiness is a new wheelset
Oh yeah. For sure I don't listen to people who claim they can feel how fast a tire is.
BTW, I did a great MTB ride today:
https://www.strava.com/activities/437326894
And my waxed chain ended up clean. I wiped it with a wipe and the wipe had barely any black mark on it. Compare that to yesterday in the same area but about 1/2 the distance with tons of black goop from the Olive Oil and needing five wipes to try to remove it.

So olive oil is sub optimal. That saves me from having to test it.
Another road tire test. How is your German? http://bikeboard.at/Board/Die-schnellst ... 2-th217501

Re: Happiness is a new wheelset
I think there are properties besides watts to look at.
One is watts after 100 miles. Maybe an oil that is 0.5 watts better at 0 miles is 6 watts worth than another at 100 miles. We have no data for that.
Boeshield T9 is 1.5 watts worse than the best, but it may be a good choice for MTB as far as picking up dirt.

Friction Facts has data for dirty cyclocross chains.
Specialized says that using a fatter tire on the rear is fast. http://specialized.desk.com/customer/po ... 24-or-26mm
Also I found that Specialized tires are 30% cheaper from French retailers.

That is because they test them at 40 kph and they are factoring in drag. At 30 kph I bet 26/26 is fastest.Schulze wrote:Specialized says that using a fatter tire on the rear is fast. http://specialized.desk.com/customer/po ... 24-or-26mm

Made a mount for my iPhone and battery case (good for four+ hours of GPS).

My ride today.
And I met two groups of people who want to ride all winter at night.

Looks like some nice places to ride. I'll have to put up some video the next time I make it out onto Holston or Pinnacle Mountain.

So my $2 thrift store helmets protect me just as well as my expensive ones. Good to know.
Now is the season for sitting mindlessly on the trainer.

Except, the slower you go the more time you save with aero. Fatter tire on the rear still wins.silencertalk wrote:That is because they test them at 40 kph and they are factoring in drag. Basically this company called Yinding copied a light called the Gemini, and the copy was excellent.
And then there were copies of copies, skipping the heat sinks and thermal paste. Those were bad.
People vetted the good ones. A solid 1200 lumens They are just $26 from a place called GearBest.
I ordered one, and also ordered a GearBest BT21 - another vetted light with a wider beam for the bars.

Try Zwift.com. I still have good enough weather for outside rides but on days where it sucks, I ride Zwift.Schulze wrote:So my $2 thrift store helmets protect me just as well as my expensive ones. Good to know.

I rode 21 miles in the rain today. I could not get anyone to ride with me. It was a great ride and I was perfectly comfortable with my various clothing choices.
I would want to buy an interactive trainer to use Zwift. Not sure I am up for that. I just plan to ride outdoors.
I just did a night ride with four other people on trails. That is what these lights are for.

My old house that I moved from has a minimum economy plan of 100 mbps. That is the lowest level you can buy there.

That's because you live in the northeast where people are packed like sardines.
We're still running phone lines to country places out here in the wild west.

10 acres is a nice size. I recall you posting pics of a house on an island. Do you still have that one?
My area's population density is about 20/square mile. Kinda hard to convince the telephone company to run me a T1 line 5 miles.

Yes. I have that still. My town: 467.8 inhabitants per square mile (180.6/km2).
Re: Happiness is a new wheelset
Alright, back on topic. The Roval CLX 64 is one of the most aero rims right know. The closest I could find is the Nextie 28mmx60mm, so I ordered a set in 18/24. I think I'll use Dura Ace 9000 hubs. Not sure on the spokes yet. I like the 17mm inner width.
