Are they to protect the dogs' paws? Like from broken glass?
And those look like filter masks on the dogs. Not quite "gas masks", but reduce dust and powder inhalation.

I've worked with military K9 units in the past, but not doing anything like this. They talked about stuff like this, but I don't know any great level of detail. Impression I had was kind of the repel / fast rope out of a hilicopters to get boots and paws on the ground. In the original post I noticed a carbine with magazine missing, so whatever that was, it was training. I'm guessing the goggles and muzzle are for the safety of K9 and handler. They might be acclamating the dogs to being harnessed that way, and reason for not just letting the K9 out as soon as on deck might be the need to get to a secure position first. Lots of guessing here, think it's neat though.

A Linguist could tell you that your wording was included in his phrasing. When diagramming a sentence, a lot is included in parentheses as understood elements.

Yeah, but why risk it? I don't want some belligerent drunk guy starting a fight with me in order to prove his own macho-ness simply because he has heard that I have a holstered dog when the truth is that I'm not a badass. Then I end up explaining to a drunk and belligerent frat boy the finer points of implied elements of speech... he thinks I'm talking down to him.... one thing leads to another... I end up un-holstering my dog.

Nobody wants that. It's a beagle. He's 11. Literally nobody wants this.
