Washington D.C. government closes due to...wind

What is with the Federal government in D.C.? They closed down the federal government on Friday due to wind. Who closes because it is windy?

Over the winter, the Feds closed down in D.C. due to snowstorms. On one of those days the total snow was 1/4" and didn't even cover the ground, although the forecast had been for a snowapocalypse. The other closing day totaled 1/2" of snow. Out here we call that a mere dusting.

I think it is weather envy in D.C. over severe weather striking other parts of the USA.
You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time...and those are pretty good odds.
