Too bad it's a tiny one. Nonetheless, this photo is full of action and stupidity. Apparently, this is in mexico but the driver was a drunk American who ran into a bike race. One dead.....
Someone will incorporate that picture into a misinspirational poster - what do you think the caption will read?
It looks like a few people suffered as a result of this, so it is in all of our collective best interests to laugh and make as much fun of this as possible. Not that someone elses' suffering should bring amusement, but in this instance, the tragedy is done. As optimists, it is our responsibility to seek out the silver-lining on this dark cloud; and to in some way redeem the suffering incurred.

I read that it's douche to list your guns here, so I stopped that.

The guy that posted it at arf headlined it:
"Fail."
Seriously though, we laugh about people having died in tragic accidents all the time, from the Hindenburg "Huge Manatee" picture to Holocaust jokes.
How long until it's deemed acceptable to laugh about an incident in which someone died?

There are probably three key variables to take into account - time being the most obvious.MisterWilson wrote:How long until it's deemed acceptable to laugh about an incident in which someone died?
First, how distant is the event? "Distant" is a tricky word since it could mean geographical location, or also cultural difference. A tragedy in Australia might be 'too close', where as an identical tragedy in Brazil could be comical because the culture is different.
Second, time. Did this just happen? If it did, is the event close or to people that are easy to identify with? If they're far away, start the humor now - time's a-wasting! But if it just happened and its close, then put on your black suit - we're going to a funeral.
Third, audience. When talking to the mother (Tina Meier) of that 13-year-old girl who committed suicide (Megan Meier), because that bitch neighbor up the street (Lori Drew, fucking bitch), no amount of time will make the event funny.
With three variables in place, it is easy to create extreme examples. The worst case scenario for NOT FUNNY would be the death of a loved one to your most beloved person, this morning, when you live next door to him/her.
The most immediately funny tragedy took place long ago, to people you don't know to a culture you don't care about. IE, 1 in 5 people in some parts of Africa having AIDS. Hilarious!

Here are my two renditions... and a third random misinspiration stolen from ARFcom because I'm a pirate.TROOPER wrote:Someone will incorporate that picture into a misinspirational poster - what do you think the caption will read?

Should say "What ever you bike Nazi's think, YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY"
or "Always Travel WITH the flow of traffic when on a bike"
or "Smurf Bike helmets don't always help"
or "Think of this next time your tooling along on your bike holding up traffic"
or "Drive a car because they have crumple zone and bikes have crunch zones"
or "Sometimes bike shorts and shaved legs are just to gey for some people"
or " Death Race 2008 - 20,000 points" <= I think this is my favorite
or "You think riding a bike saves gas? Look how much gas was wasted in ambulances taking thess bikers to the hospital"
or "You forgot your ETs bitches"
or "And you just thought a low sperm count was the only side effect of riding a bike"

I think the main reason people laugh at others getting hurt or dying is because their happy or relieved it isn't them.MisterWilson wrote:The guy that posted it at arf headlined it:

Realizing this I don't laugh, although that photo is amusing.
