Former Baltimore cop: 'The Wire' was dead-on

Post by Hush »

In one episode of "The Wire" entitled "Amsterdam," the Western District commander, reacting to pressure to reduce major crime in the district, forces most drug dealers into a several block area of West Baltimore where they are allowed to sell their drugs under the watchful eye of police. This resulted in a drastic decrease in violent crime in the Western District.

Yeah well, legalize drugs. Why people can't see that drugs be illegal is no different than Prohibition is beyond me. The War on Drugs is being funded at taxpayer expense, and we cannot afford it.

My position if you elect me President:

1. Eliminate the Department of Education.
2. Eliminate the Department of Energy.
3. Make all drugs legal, but don't tax it other than normal sales tax.
4. Eliminate no less than 90% of all gun control laws and kill the concept of 'sporting purpose' on imports. If a state violates your rights, send in the National Guard.
5. Triage ER patents with priority to US citizens.
6. Children of illegal aliens do become US citizens, but their parents are still subject to deportation.
7. Silencing is not a crime.
8. Federal income tax is kept in place, but becomes an 11% flat tax. Some simple form of deductions is still allowed.
9. Affirmative action becomes illegal, but there is a loophole under the freedom of association clause in that people can still associate or not with anyone they want for any reason.
10. Kill the Title-9 athletics.
11. Kill Roe-v-Wade as federal law. However, each state can decide what to do.
12. Welfare reduction - no additional money for additional children.

Why 11% instead of 10%?

On #3 isn't sales tax a state thing or are you talking about a excise tax?

I don't care that much either way, you haven't lost my vote yet, just wondering if you're treating it differently than alcohol.

Yeah, sales tax is a state thing. That is all I mean. If there is any federal excise tax on alcohol, I would get rid of it. There is no reason why alcohol should be taxed more than paper towels.

Cut all political funding while you're at it.

Good mention of AA, I always forget that one. Forced racism.

It'd be funny (but wrong) to ban any scholarships that were based on race. Somebody would you call you racist for it.

I agree 100%, we watched every episode and just last month she bought me the box set for 80.00 on Amazon.

Best cop show ever made,
Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys; look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death.

We fund two scholarships. Forget race, I almost did not fund one based on need! At first I wanted to only base it on merit no matter how much money the kid's family had. In the end we do one to the best student overall and one for the best student who has financial need.

I would ban public scholarships based on race but not private. Freedom of association after all.
