How do you discourage door to door solicitors?

Also good advice.

I know for a fact that burglars drive neighborhoods during the week after Christmas looking for boxes that indicate new toys hanging on walls.

Fairfax County, VA police caught and busted a crew doing that very thing a few years ago. Someone saw them driving around seemingly without purpose and thought they looked out of place enough to call the cops. One sees the van they were driving, turns out the tags were dead, and that was enough for a stop. Inside, tools and two TV's, both from break-ins the previous afternoon.

Heck, I cut the boxes up and drive them to an unmanned recycle center and drop them off.

But other boxes I cut up. When I buy a safe, you can have that box. Hot and cold running air.......

My safe didn't come in a box... then again its probably larger than Russian's apartment.
