Men's Health magazine - annoying

Post by silencertalk »

I got a few free trial magazine subscriptions from entering a race. One was Men's Health. I assumed it was a fitness magazine. It sort of is, but really it is like a male Cosmo.

It really rubs me the wrong way. There were at least 11 pages dedicated to cologne ads and it is full of tips on how to talk to women and stuff. It has ads for jewelry. WTF. I wanted a serious training magazine. This is the first magazine that I am going to call and cancel even though it is free. It has scented pages! Terrible.

Yeah it sucks. Each issue recycles the same "get ripped abs", "how to not eat like a fatass" and "super badass going to get you ripped workout" articles. If you read one you've read them all.

They might have several columns on a couple pages relating to health and fitness. My SIL used to have a subscription and a while back maybe 3 or 4 years there was a nice four of five page spread of helpful tips and suggestions.

They exist because there is a demand for them - a demand among your fellow men. Yes, these are the ignorant, dull, stylish people that you meet every day. Sad, isn't it?

Take the magazine, replace all the pictures of men with pictures of women in leotards and sweaters, replace the AXE ads with tampon ads, a little minor rewording to a few of the articles, mention Oprah a couple times and VOILA women's magazine.
