Osprey 9mm on 92FS

Post by Delasangre4231 »

Hello, this is my first post here on Silencer Talk. I do not have a silencer yet. I just got off the phone with my dealer and he recommended this site. So here we go.

For my first suppresor I am going to use my 92FS as a host and am still picking out the can. I was going for a YHM in 9mm but my dealer talked me out of it, recommending an Osprey or an SWR. So my question is;
1) do I need an extended piston for the 92FS recoil rod to clear or does it come with one? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOL2AG2DfHI)
2) do I need the fixed barrel spacer on the 92FS or not and or a reduced recoil spring?

Thanks in advance!

Yes you will need the extended mount. I have an M9A1 and don"t use the fixed spacer or the reduced power spring and it works fine. I have the 45 Osprey and don't know if it makes a difference. It may work better with those added but I have not experienced any trouble yet. It may be recommended because a Beretta barrel does not move like a glock or M&P.

Just run it like I did in the video and you'll be fine ;)

PS: Silencerco rocks! That is all.

Get an Osprey 45 and you woulld be able to use on multiple calibers in future if you decide to use any other caliber.

I have the same setup and will recommend you the following and save you lots of hassle.

Osprey 45 (Fixed Barrel Spacer, and XXL Piston 1/2x28 threading)
92FS (9lb spring is required otherwise it wont cycle no matter what the ammo) and ofcourse threaded barrel

That's what I plan to do with my Taurus PT99 once my Osprey 45 can paperwork comes through.
