Osprey 45 FDE

Post by BlenderWizard »

I bought an Osprey 45 FDE off a buddy for a good deal. I am thinking about having it coated with KG GunKote, because I am not terribly fond of the FDE. Has anyone done this? The only thing I am concerned with is it filling in the serial number

I'm not the best person to answer this but since nobody else has I'll give you what I got. I learned a big lesson a few years ago when I ordered a Gemtech Tundra from a local dealer by phone call and mail and never laid eyes on the can. The dealer also screwed up by not laying eyes on the can and went by the serial number on the box. When I went to pick it up I discovered that my Tundra was FDE (the box stated black as the color). Considering my host was to be a two toned black/inox Beretta 92, the FDE just doesn't look right.

I looked into my options at the time. Hydroprint was a very easy option and very very thin. Ultimately I just left it alone and dealt with the color, as some folks actually complimented me on it. I rarely use the can anymore so it really doesn't matter to me anymore. I'd have preferred black, but whatever. :?

Just hit it will a light coat of flat black spray paint with ceramic. Or go crazy and have it hydro dipped with the skull pattern lol.

I was thinking about doing that to my Serbu Super Shorty for fun. You have any pics?

That's all I got....lousy camera phone shot. Durakoted in OD then hydroprinted on top. I should have replaced the grip first, but I didn't think about it.

Ok. Back in July of 2011 I started a thread on Florida Shooters Network about a group buy on AOW 12 gauges. One of the Class 3 dealers took the helm and set it up with American Manufacturing for the Savior shotgun. We asked instead of permanent pistol grips to have rails so we can put whatever pistol grip we want on there. I wanted 870, so I had to order one with a pistol grip and ship it to AM. It took MONTHS for them to get the guns built and the paperwork submitted, then approved and the guns shipped to the Florida dealer. The paperwork was screwed up (wrong serial numbers and others) and then it had to get transferred to my local guy, now I'm waiting on the transfer to me. It's been a year and a half or more (I'm banned over there now, can't look at the old thread) that I'm waiting. I had Scott at Hydroprint Services durakote the gun in OD then do the Hydro skulls over it.

ONE of these days I'll actually get to SHOOT the darn thing.
