CTA baffle manufacturing

Post by wacki »

Just curious, how are your CTA baffles made? Stamped? Investment-casting? CNC machined?

Also, how easy is it for you guys to mix up the design? Do you guys ever do any custom baffle work?

Our CTA baffles are CNC Machined.

Right now all of our machines are running at full capacity to meet demand and we can not take any custom work at this time. I do apologize for any inconvenience.

CNC machine those thin baffles out of one big solid rod?!??! Do you precast it at all? That has to be slow / pricey from a manufacturing point of view.

No inconvenience [yet :-) ] You guys are awesome.

This may be a silly ?, but why are the 17-4 Stainless baffles bronze colored?
Are they dipped or plated for erosion resistance or heat transfer?

The bronze color is the natural finish after heat treat. No other finish or treatment is applied.

When the new Octane came out I argued with a arm chair commando on the no dead silencer forum, he said the Octane's where cheap and easy to produce compared to his pricier can.

Best dam cans out there!!!!

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Did you have your baffles coated with NP3 or Electroless Nickel? I like the color. Does it make it any easier to clean them off?

Nah, just most of his knowledge seems to come from the interwebs searches.

I think this has been covered more than once in threads here at ST and the other silencer forums.

You 2 naughties nearly slipped this by.

Dub, actually I have aquired my vast library of Learning from copious reading over the past 35yrs. My 4th Grade Teacher was instrumental in this.

When I post links related to Topics, it's so that others have access to "further reading." This allows a deeper grounding in concepts and advancing their Internal Libraries.

--jreinke, There are many gaps in my Learning. That's why I continue my reading and ask ?s when possible. Hence, my visitting this Site. To freely exchange info w other like minds.

(Psst, I've learned alot reading your posts too. Thanks for your help and I hope you continue helping me learn.) ;)

Confirming the posts above, that's their natural color. I do "paint" them with a very thin coat of Mil Com TW25-B after cleaning so the lead does not bond with the baffle metal. It really helps.
