7.62 Saker versus 5.56 Saker on M16

Post by eastern_hunter »

Have a 5.56 Saker in NFA jail for the moment as well as a 7.62 Specwar. The 7.62 Saker was not available at the time I bought the cans.

I do have a KAC QDSS-NT4 in hand already. While it probably not as quiet as the Silencerco cans ... it is arguably very robust. That is important to me as one of the rifles I use it on is a 11.5" M16. Is the reason I went with the Saker for a second 5.56 can.

Curious though ... how well does the 7.62 Saker handle full auto with a shorty M16?

Thanks!

I would put our Stellite core rifle suppressors, Saker and Specwar, up against any other rifle suppressor on the market for durability. The Saker 762 will handle auto on a short M16 with no issues. The Hoplon in the Saker 556 functions primarily as an erosion control, which it excels at. Strength between it and the Saker 762 cone blast baffle is theoretically higher for the Hoplon. In practical use you will not see a difference. The gas tubes on DI M16s pop before we can destroy the suppressor.

Oh my ... Melting the gas tube before suppressor failure is pretty darned impressive!!!

How about long term life for the 5.56 Saker?

All in all, may have lucked out ;-)

BTW: Is exactly why I went w the Saker versus the Specwar in 5.56.

We have never worn out a Saker 556. You would have to completely erode through the Hoplon's apex before the bore size increased. If that ever happens we will just rebuild the suppressor for you.
