Any barrel length and/or warranty limitations with SBS configurations?
Any known SBS compatibility issues at this time?

With 2 3/4" shells the Salvo is rated down to a 10" barrel.
With 3" shells the Salvo is rated down to a 16" barrel.
No 3 1/2" shells.

Man, that would be a hoot! Mini-shells, Serbu, Salvo.

Factory Benelli M4 14" SBS barrels don't come with choke tube threads (factory 18" barrels do) but they supposedly have sufficient wall thickness for them. Anyone know of a company that could be trusted to cut them in a $800-$1100 barrel?

Re: Salvo and SBS use
I am doing my M1S90 barrel. The M4 is sufficient for a choke but good luck finding a company that will accept that risk.AggiePhil wrote:Benelli M4 14" SBS barrels don't come with choke tube threads but they supposedly have sufficient wall thickness for them. Out of curiosity, what's the risk? The 18" barrels come with choke tube threads but for some reason the 14" barrels do not.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Re: Salvo and SBS use
I have been told by several people that the benelli barrels were to thin. I am having an M1 chopped to 10'' right now and have purchased the Salvo, so if anyone is able to get one threaded please post it, because I would love to be able to get mine threaded. I might even stop by Briley the next time I make a run to Houston.
Re: Salvo and SBS use
I shot an email off to Briley and am looking forward to their reply. I'm only located about an hour and a half away so it wouldn't be hard to run by there if need be.
In speaking with King Armory, I was told that factory Benelli barrels actually have a flared extension welded (or otherwise permanently attached) onto the end for the choke tube and front sight, prior to finishing. If you look at a factory 18.5" M4 barrel closely, you can in fact see a slight flare in the profile in the last 2" or 3" of barrel length.
Now, the big unknown (at least at this point) is whether or not the factory Benelli 14.5" M4 barrels have this same flared portion. If so, it should facilitate the cutting of choke threads. Judging from the photos I've seen online, it looks as though they do in fact have this flared portion.
To further muddy the waters, I recently learned that all factory 14.5" M4 barrels sold in the US are actually imported as 18.5" barrels (with the mag tube lug and front sight appropriately placed for the 14.5" setup) and then cut down by Beretta USA.
So I really don't know what to expect. Barrel should be here in a few days though. I'll try to report back.

Re: Salvo and SBS use
I stopped by the shop that is doing the chop on my benelli yesterday and ask them to mike the barrel after they cut it, and see if there is sufficient materiel there for a choke. They are also currently cutting and rethreading an 870 barrel for me.
Re: Salvo and SBS use
Crud. That would be the only reason I would buy the Salvo...but on a SHF12.Bendersquint wrote:Guess that rules out putting a Salvo on my Serbu
If it doesn't splatter, shatter, burst or explode, it's not worth shooting.
Re: Salvo and SBS use
Any you guys have experience with 870 SBS barrel threading for chokes, someone here mentioned a shop doing one for him? I have a factory 14 inch barrel 870 and (2) 14 inch barrels for it, can a regular 18 inch barrel be cut down and threaded or should I thread one of my 14 inch barrels? My 2 SBS barrels are modified chokes if that makes a difference. I want to get things together for my salvo 12 when I take it home. I have heard of a place called rose action sports that does this kind of work but know nobody with experience with them. Thanks

Re: Salvo and SBS use
I was able to get my M1 threaded, ended up with an 11 inch barrel. Should be getting it back today. There is not enough meat at the end of an 18" barrel but when you get down to 10-11" range there is plenty. I also have a spare 14" barrel I will have them check it just out of curiosity .
Re: Salvo and SBS use
I had rose action sports cut a cheap Stevens 320 barrel for winchokes a few weeks ago. They were very response to emails and it one week door to door for $75. I'll use them again in a heartbeatAKDOC wrote:. I have heard of a place called rose action sports that does this kind of work but know nobody with experience with them. Thanks

Re: Salvo and SBS use
Steve at Rose Action Sports is awesome. Turn around time was a week door to door.
$170 included barrel cut, thread and crown as well as mounting the front sight and two Rem-Choke tubes.
Slowly saving my pennies for a Salvo that will be Cerakoted to match.

That is a beautiful shotty!
I would love to know some details?!

Sure. I'll start a thread over in the shotgun section later today. I don't want to spoil the OP's Salvo discussion.

Will the Salvo handle slugs?
Re: Salvo and SBS use
Sorry, I should have also asked... At what barrel length for slugs?
