SpecWar 762 and 5.45?

Post by Fulliautomatix »

I'm about to pull the trigger on a SpecWar 7.62 and have a couple questions.

First, are there any issues with running 5.45x39 through it? Assume 16"+ bbl.

Secondly, assuming no issues with the round, what is the best way to mount it on the 24mm muzzle brake threads? To have it re-threaded 5/8"-24 or use an adapter like this?

Most 5.45x39 is corrosive, make sure to rinse the can out with water after shooting. The Specwar 762 is rated up to 300 RUM so the Russian round is perfectly safe in it. Rethreading is preferred but adapters are okay if they are concentric, use Rocksett so it doesn't come loose.

How did you go about mounting the can on your AK?

answer is two fold

1)
I used an adapter for my ak47 (7.62x39) made by cnc warrior thats 14x1 to 5/8x24.

I made sure that my bore was concentric but still had an issue due to the occasional movement of the adapter because it locks in like all ak47 muzzle devices.

If i were to do it again, i'd remove the ak47 brake plunger to remove any movement because I have gotten a few minor endcap strikes.

I sent my can to SilencerCo to have the endcap bore resized a little bit.

When I SBR my 4k47, I'm going to thread it in 5/8x24.

2)

My 5.45x39 is actually an AR15 so..yeah 1/2x28.

5.45x39 sounds good in the specwar 762 but it will be louder in an ak74

If you have enough room & don't want to go the adapter route, yo could have it rethreaded in 1/2x28

Hmmm... Hadn't thought of that route. Pull off the front sight block and thread the barrel directly. I have a red dot sight, so the fsb is redundant at this point.

I believe its venom tactical that has a fsb/gas block combo for $100 that you could install if you want to keep the front sight
