M11/9mm
Looking for the cheapest way to get into full auto .22. My understanding is that the M11/9 with a Lage's .22 kit is the way to go. I intend to use this with my ss sparrow/mystic along with a soon to buy essence. Am i correct that this is the best host for the intended purpose? Is there a down side to this that would make another host a better option?

Re: M11/9mm
The M11\9 is one of the coolest options out there. I run a custom made suppressor by Mark White and it is neat. First the .22 kit was made for a stock upper. But I have a side cock upper with a 1 and 1/2 inch barrel. I had the barrel cut down to match my upper and it works great. Next i bought the mags from Lage and now with the ban looming they are impossible to get. So I opted for the M11\22 200 round drums. Its a little to get started in you have to purchase the drums from e&L and the winders. Get the NON geared winders and the metal top upgrade for your drums. Then you get the A&D adapter and your ready to go. Spitting out 200 rounds in one pull is really cool. After you break your Lage kit in {1000 rounds or so} you will be able to do 3round bursts and use cheaper ammo. I use nothing but mini-mags I buy them 10000 at a time. They recommend Rem golden bullet but that stuff is dirty.
As far as the suppressor goes get one that is built like a tank and can be cleaned and of course can take full auto.

Re: M11/9mm
You are correct. The M11/9 + the Lage Mfg M-11/22 upper is the way to go. It is the best firearm accessory I've ever owned, even better than the Max-31.
After break-in, it is fun. The ROF is perfect. It's slower than 10/22 trigger packs and AM180 and easily to pull singles. If you want to up the ROF you just need a mac jack.

If it doesn't splatter, shatter, burst or explode, it's not worth shooting.

Re: M11/9mm
I could never get my Lage Max11/22 kit to run well despite the 9mm max-11 being pretty much running flawless. Regardless of ammunition, and I tried dozens of types, about every 4th or 5th shot would nosedive and get crushed.
It's not the kit, it's my Max upper or receiver. I suspected either a slightly out of spec Max11-9 barrel alignment or slightly out of spec Sten converson on my lower. I believe something is off just enough to cause .22s to miss the chamber whereas the larger 9mm bore and ogave is generous enough to overcome.
One of these days I'm going to pick up a M11/22 conversion and see if the factory SWD upper behaves the same. If it works I'll sell the max22 kit, and keep the SWD upper dedicated to rimfire. If someone wanted to swap me a M11/22 kit for my Max11/22 kit on a trial basis, I'd be all ears.

Re: M11/9mm
Send your upper and kit back to Lage some uppers need tweaked Lage will do this I believe no charge. Some M11/9 uppers had a minor difference in the barrel.

Get on the list. It took me 4 months and was worth the wait. If you are in a hurry you will pay outrageous prices for the unit. Last one I saw they wanted over 1k for it.

When you say this your reffering to the Lage Mfg M-11/22 upper, correct? Not the M11/9 itself.M40A1308M wrote:Get on the list. It took me 4 months and was worth the wait. If you are in a hurry you will pay outrageous prices for the unit. Last one I saw they wanted over 1k for it.

Re: M11/9mm
I ordered my m11/22 kit the same day I bought my m11. First of Aug. I received my .22 kit Jan. 15. It took longer to get my stamp! If you are even considering the .22 kit, go ahead and get on the list. Also, check with them from time to time to see if they have any mags in. Right now they are not taking any back orders on their magazines.
Re: M11/9mm
You can always get the drum conversion for M11 lage kit. I have one and it is sweet to dump 200 rounds at one time. E&L has drums in stock.
