I called to check on the status of my Form 4 for an Osprey 45 (five months+). The very pleasant fellow on the other end of the phone told me that it would be approved 'within 30 days'.
Typically, they just say 'pending approval since ...'. I asked if the status had changed from 'pending approval' to some other status (I read here that there are intermediate statuses such as 'approved pending approval'), but he would not admit to such a thing.
Has anyone gotten a similar response?

They don't have specific coded language for responses. That is the secretaries interpretation of the status.mbogo wrote:I called to check on the status of my Form 4 for an Osprey 45 (five months+). Sure they have coded language.
Pending = When we get to it a year from now.
In problem status= Your fucked sorry.
Approved = you will see it in 4 to 5 months
Denied= Welcome meet your new room mate buba .
Oh yea
Within 30 days= of what month we didn't tell you. HAHAHAHa

But bender is right that is a typical response as the person fields the call.
Please don't call and complain at 31 days PLEASE DON'T !!!!!
Re: Interesting response from NFA Branch
You know they all hang out at a bar after work and laugh about what they told whom on the phone.

I know for a fact a few years ago there was a couple examiners would tell customers things and the bet was on the response.rogerme wrote:You know they all hang out at a bar after work and laugh about what they told whom on the phone.

I have heard..."any day now"
Re: Interesting response from NFA Branch
Last month I heard a Feb. completion, you'll get it in feb. Last week I heard 30 to 45 days till it will be approved. The form one has been pending since August 23,2012. I think they say that just so you won't call for a month or so. I am a little frustrated and discouraged. The only cure is to scare up another 200 dollars and form 1 an MP5K clone SBR. I plan on buying/building a form 1 every year for the rest of my life. No s--t.

Re: Interesting response from NFA Branch
I've done 4 an have NEVER CALLED!!!!
Just leave them the f#ck alone.
When sending in the paperwork, EXPECT 8 months to wait, just expect it. LEVE THEM THE F#CK ALONE.
You are either going to get apprve or not. Or get it sent back for corrections.
But that's just me.

Re: Interesting response from NFA Branch
I used to be a don't call person until my last one was approved but then got lost in the mail. After calling them I ended up having to send a letter asking for a certified copy.
Re: Interesting response from NFA Branch
One time a couple of years ago when I called, the dude asked me, did everyone get off of the Osprey bus at the same time? He said I was like the 10th person to call and the SN was an Osprey that day.
That was back when 4 months was the norm.
Might have been the bar talk that evening.

Re: Interesting response from NFA Branch
Seeing as the folks who answer the phone are not examiners or assistants, my calling them does not clog up the operation of NFA Branch.BISHOP wrote:Just leave them the f#ck alone.
If I didn't call every few weeks, how would I know when to begin pestering the dealer?
