ATF NFA - Wait Time Is Now 15-Months (As of 2013-10-25)
Re: ATF NFA - Wait Time Is Now 15-Months (As of 2013-10-25)
I called NFA yesterday on a can I paid for back in May (I hadn't called yet, just wanted to make sure everything was kosher). She told me 9 months, so maybe they're backing down the times now for what they quote at least.
Unfortunately, did not get e-filed so I'm looking at another few months still most likely. Friend of mine is getting the same can, e-filed yesterday supposedly by his dealer...will be interesting to see who wins that race

90 days on an efile is what I've heard. I am not believing it until I see it myself.
Re: ATF NFA - Wait Time Is Now 15-Months (As of 2013-10-25)
I have been waiting on 2 items on form 4. A .22 silencer and a SBR. When my paperwork was submitted and check cashed for the pistol can it was a 6 month wait. After this time passed I talked to my dealer he said it was up to 10 months. I just got the approval so next week I will pick it up. This ended up being a 9 month wait. The SBR was supposed to be approved January 2014. I am thinking now February unless there are any more "delays". Best of luck to everyone waiting!

Check mailed 02/08/2013
Check cashed 02/11/20103
Went "pending " 04-22-2013
Still Waiting on my SBR...
Received My SBR stamp today...Was stamped 12-20-2013 on the front...Had a stamp on back dated 10-03-2013
Anyone know why it was stamped on the back in october and approved in december?
Glad I received it, but it was damn near 11 months from initial mailing to receiving stamp...

I just called to verify that some paperwork had made it in, found out it was pending, and was told 9 months.

February 11, 2013 I sent 3 Form 1s in under my trust (2 silencers, 1SBR)
July 29 (apx) I received the silencer Forms back for correction (sent back the next day)
May 3, the two silencer forms were approved
May 7, received one of the approved forms
May 10, SBR approved
May 21, received the other approved silencer
Still waiting on the SBR to arrive.
I find it odd that the form that was NOT returned for correction is the last one approved and received.

Papers went in on 9/9/13, pending 11/9/13. The young lady said 9 months, should have my suppressor by July. Did my papers in an NFA trust

I have a pair of Form 4s for which the checks were cashed on 3/29.
The approvals on NFAtracker seem to be running in mid March now. So maybe we're two to three weeks away.

I haven't called anyone yet, maybe I should just to make sure something is not missing since this is my first Form 4 and a Trust by a supposedly savvy NFA lawyer. I tried to search here for a number. Put in "NFA phone number" and it defaulted to phone. A lot of interesting posts but no number.eastern_hunter wrote:I have a pair of Form 4s for which the checks were cashed on 3/29.

I tried the NFA Tracker but it choked when I couldn't put in the examiner's name.
Checks cashed March 29th, 2013.
Any help appreciated.

Thanks again to Tony M for the number.
I called ATF today for the first time since my check was cashed March 29. 2013. This is my first Form 4 on a trust. The person that answered said my form was to be completed next month and issued May 21st with the stamp going to my dealer.
I'm not exactly sure what the word "completed" means. I ask the representative if they would contact me or my dealer if there was a problem. He said they would contact my dealer. Fingers and toes crossed as it seems like forever since I bought these two cans, one for a .40 S&W and one for a .308.

A word of caution to you all:
I bought 5 suppressors in Nov & just found out my dealer submitted e-form on only one of them! The other 4 were submitted on paper! Even though I was promised e-file on all 5 (via phone & email).
Not a happy camper.

I see you're in the LSS. We must have bought from the same dealer, as I found out the same thing on the ones I thought were going to be e-filed as well.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Re: ATF NFA - Wait Time Is Now 15-Months (As of 2013-10-25)
I don't get why any dealer would do that if the items were in stock. Something certainly smells fishy.

I suspect that we did purchase from the same dealer. I have received multiple different reasons from said dealer for "the misunderstanding" (all different & all conflicting). What I have not received is any concern or interest from them to rectify the situation.

Did you guys who purchased the 5 cans get Serial Numbers? When I call to check on mine, I had to give the NFA guy the brand of the can, the SN, and the dealers name to check.
These type things are one of the things I hate about purchasing cans. You have to pay up front for your stuff, hope the dealer doesn't go bankrupt or is a shady character or dies or whatever. I wished there was someway a third party, like an attorney's trust account is for Real Estate funds, to keep these valuable purchases for a year or more.

Went pending early Oct, and NFA Branch told me June the other day. At this point, I would get them at the same time either way.wacki wrote:Tell him to cancel and resubmit.

Re: ATF NFA - Wait Time Is Now 15-Months (As of 2013-10-25)
Well, my SBR From 1 came today. That would be just 3 days shy of ONE YEAR. As you know; it was approved on Dec 10th but never arrived. January 23 I faxed for a copy. Today I found a letter addressed to my trust from the ATF postmarked January 30.
Opening the envelope I noticed right off it had an original stamp on it. I figured they did that for "official" copies. Unfolding relieved a sticky note. It was an apology signed by the same person that signed the Form 1. Apology? For what? Further examination down the page showed a nice roller-ball ink signature - not a copy. And at the top left corner were staple holes. Well now, how about that.
I'm figuring that my copy was never mailed. When the examiner went to go get the ATF's form to make me a copy they discovered both originals in the file and mailed me mine.
So how often is it you get an apology from the ATF anyway?
