9mm PCC selection

Post by Elkins45 »

This is somewhat an NFA question, although my immediate plan isn't to SBR the gun. It's more an NFA related question because I own a silencer now and my only PCC is a Marlin Camp Carbine without a threaded barrel. I like the Marlin OK and really like the Williams peep sight I have mounted on it, but having the front sight moved back and the muzzle threaded might just cost as much or more than trading it on a new gun, especially given what the Marlins are selling for these days.

So there's the question-- what threaded barrel PCC available on today's market is a good choice? An AR is an obvious choice, but which one? How about the Just Right carbines? Any experiences with those. Lastly, I'm a lefty and Bud's has the Stag Arms 9L in stock. I'm a bit hesitant given Stag's recent legal troubles and also because the parts would by necessity be proprietary.

Thoughts?

Don't overlook the Uzi. Heavy and old tech, but still viable. Cheap mags, rugged construction, iconic badass gun.

I would keep the Marlin. After a quick search I don't see that many for sale and the ones that are listed are seeing any action. Prices are all over the place and I'd think you'd be able to grab on for $500-600. The Marlins are nice rifles and I don't see why it should cost more than $200 to thread and relocate the front sight.

That being said, and not knowing where you live (for applicable laws), my PCC of choice would be a Quarter Circle 10 or Lone Wolf Glock lower with a side charging, DI upper.

Not Mine, but side folding as well

I have shot several JRC's over the years and I have seen quite a few problems with them. Keltec sells a few, their Sub series are nice but they are not on par with a good AR but they are very light. A Scorpion EVO and an MPX are 2 I have just bought and I'm going too put form 1's in on them next month.

I would never recommend a DI 9mm upper. That is if DI = direct impingement (as opposed to a brand name that I don't know about).

I don't see any reason to go DI either. I have a QC10 9mm with Gibbz side charge upper and TROS 3-lug for suppressor under handguard. Love it, blowback is fine and if you pick a buffer and spring that is a little heavier/stronger I doubt you could tell the difference. AR, MPX, Scorpion and MP5 are all very nice.

If you have the opportunity, try the JP 9mm silent spring. I wasn't really impressed with the 556 version but the 9mm spring with the JP bolt is exceptional.

This is what I'm running and very happy, much smoother recoil IMO than a heavy buffer. Haven't seen a JP side by side but would like too.

I know the JP silent spring is no go for auto. How would that Blitz hold up in auto? Have any experience with it?

I dont, but call blitzkrieg, I'm sure they would know.

FYI: I have a slidefire stock I play with at times, but they are unsafe on a blowback that does not have a firing pin block to prevent detonating an unchambered round. I tried it on an OA CAR-9 I had and didn't like the outcome.
