question about overall length
I'm putting together a 9mm ar, and I plan to use the 8" kak industry barrel on it. what would my overall length be if I were to have it installed? I know about not purchasing it ahead of time, ATF constructive possessive intent and all that. hence why I'm here asking the question. Any help would be appreciated so I know what to enter on my form 1. Thanks in advance.

Re: question about overall length
Your bbl is 8" + Receiver Group (7.8" +/-) + Your intended Stock Length = OAL.
You need to determine which stock you will be using and you'll have your total OAL.

Re: question about overall length
I'm using the magpul ctr, with a standard "mil-spec" tube.

Then it's about 19" plus 7.5" for an 8" 9mm barrel.donutslayer853 wrote:I'm using the magpul ctr, with a standard "mil-spec" tube.

Re: question about overall length
FWIW, I just got my SBR papers for an AR45 with 8" bbl, and plain Jane PSA stock. OAL is 23" from collapsed buttstock (on mil-spec tube) to end of barrel. (which on mine is a few inches inside the handguard, just forward of the hand stop)
I've read that you're supposed to measure with the stock collapsed, if that's not the case, then add 3.25" for an extended stock. (at least for my PSA)

Re: question about overall length
Measure a complete carbine wearing that stock and subtract 8 inches and you have your length. Remember its stock extendee.
