Form 1 SBR status update question
Form 1 SBR status update question
I e-filed a form 1 to build an SBR back in mid February. I received a permit/control number shortly/almost immediately after paying. I check the ATF website periodically to see if there has been any change in status, but nothing so far. I see on NFATracker that people post 'pending' and '2nd pending' dates, but I do not see those items anywhere on the ATF website. Is there any point in contacting the ATF to get a status update (on this or the 2 cans I have on form 4s)? My mentality would be that the less we call in, the more time they have to review and approve applications. Of course that is assuming that they notify immediately in the event of any issues. This is my first submission, so I am unaware of what to expect beyond longer than anticipated wait times.
Re: Form 1 SBR status update question
I wouldn't contact them unless your atleast 4 and a half months into your wait.

On an e-filed form 1, you get notice that you submitted, and final notice that you were either approved or denied.
Speak softly, and carry a big stick.
Re: Form 1 SBR status update question
Thank you for the responses. I will try to put it out of my mind and patiently await a response, hopefully approval!

Looks like they're running around 100 days, right now.

Re: Form 1 SBR status update question
I hope that remains accurate. With every update I see, it looks like the approval time is getting longer. When I filed it looked like it was about sixty days. A few of the recent updates on NFATracker imply that mine should (hopefully) be getting close, but I guess anything is possible.T-Rex wrote:Looks like they're running around 100 days, right now.
Re: Form 1 SBR status update question
I e-filed a Form 1 for a SBR back the middle of January and have not heard anything yet except my credit card was charged and my Form 1 went "pending". I have a can on a Form 4 at about the same time and have not heard anything on it as well.
100 days is a lot faster than my last Form 1 which was about 7 months. My first can was 13 months about 4 years ago. What took so long was the dealer did not send in the Form 4 until he had my can in his hands. I've learned a lot since then. Now from what I've heard, if the dealer is agreeable, the Form 4 can be submitted as soon as the buyer can get a serial number and the money changes hands. This should speed up the process a lot.

If you have a permit/control number it is pending. If you call and ask what the status is they will tell you pending at that point.JC in SC wrote:Where does it show as 'pending'?hardcase wrote:I e-filed a Form 1 for a SBR back the middle of January and have not heard anything yet except my credit card was charged and my Form 1 went "pending". Re: Form 1 SBR status update question
I received the following in the form of an e-mail shortly after I e-filed. "This is to advise you that the status of your eForms submission with the subject Permit/Control number has changed to PENDING RESEARCH" This was dated January 14th, 2016.
Re: Form 1 SBR status update question
I put one in on January 29th, still not completed. Hang in there bro. Its coming soon, just get the thing engraved and put it away until you get surprised, or like me, you worry everyday until it gets approved and you check 2 times a day. I'm anxious because its going to be for other vets to hunt with and I need to make a mount and camera setup for the rifle to fit a wheelchair.

Same here, I did my first form 1 February 1st.
This wait is excruciating

It is indeed. Each time I check nfatracker.com, it looks like the graph is trending further upward. Hopefully our respective waits are over soon.
Re: Form 1 SBR status update question
NFA tracker says I was supposed to get it by the end of this month but Its over and no stamp for me... I had a buddy put one in at the same time and he has his back already (He did a little AK for mounted use on a RZR with a 90round drum and a can. (We were getting a lot of concussion below without the can)
I helped him design the mount system for it, I'm picking up a gimbal system for it to stabilize it while in motion. He chose an AK for up top because they work better in the humidity and a whole day eating dust up there while hunting. We had a RPK up there for a while but the barrel length was crazy looking.
We drive it into town sometimes to get supplies and I designed a box to go around it to hide it while we have it parked outside the store. I wanted to put a RPD up there and run the belt into a can but we really dont need that craziness up there for shooting hogs. the drum allows you to shoot all weekend (or all month realistically) and never have to worry about loading it. When I get my electric cart I'm going to mount one on the passenger side and shotgun slides on the rear passengers areas so when I take other wounded vets hunting I dont have to worry about them shooting anything they shouldnt. Its not entirely practical but it looks cool and its a really fun rig to ride around in.
We mounted a Sony Nightvision camera on the front and we have a Garmin chartplotter with video input that folds down in front of the driver for night driving. I had a similar system in my MATV in Afghanistan. When we hunt at night the RZR provides most of the IR illumination because the Gen 2 stuff we are using isnt that nice and doesnt illuminate the area that well. We did have to upgrade the battery in the RZR and had the Alternator rewound at a shop I think (Its not my setup, my pockets arent that deep) He used a years salary as a contractor in Afghanistan to buy the setup for his Hunting business.
I know its off topic a little but I figured I would keep the topic going.

Re: Form 1 SBR status update question
I received my Form 1 via e-mail yesterday, May 28th, that I filled online back in January for a SBR. It went "PENDING" January 14th.
This was definitely faster than my first paper forms from a couple years ago. March 2013 to Feb 2014 for a paper form.
The paper forms look more official with a real stamp on them but hey, whatever works.

Re: Form 1 SBR status update question
Still waiting Per NFATracker.com, 73.71% of people have received their stamp by now and there is a 98.32% chance I'll receive it by the end of the month. I still get more anxious by the day.
Re: Form 1 SBR status update question
Per NFATracker, 91.69% of people have received their stamp by now, but I'm still waiting I should have pointed out that this was my first submission with a trust that had only been setup shortly before submitting the Form 1. Anyone ever noticed a difference in wait time between first time submission and subsequent submissions outside of what could be attributed to ATF backlog?

Re: Form 1 SBR status update question
If you sort the home page by stamp recieved, you will see that F1 trust SBR'S being approved were submitted early to mid Feb. Your not late, your close, check the eforms sight once in a while. You will not get anything in the snail mail. I got an Email last time, but sometimes not, maybe spam eater gets it. You are looking for a folder that says approved instead of submitted / in progress, you print your own approved/stamped sheet from pdf.JC in SC wrote:Per NFATracker, 91.69% of people have received their stamp by now, but I'm still waiting I should have pointed out that this was my first submission with a trust that had only been setup shortly before submitting the Form 1. Re: Form 1 SBR status update question
Yeah, I have a form 1 sbr that I submitted in mid February also.
Just be patient, it will show up soon.
I have done 4 form 1 sbr's and 6 form 4 suppressors in the last year and a half.
The wait doesn't get any easier, it just seems to go by quicker.
But that 1st one is a real pisser of a wait.
Don't pay a whole lot attention to "potential" approval times, or estimated approval times.
Form 1's are now taking 4 to 5 months, and form 4's are running 5+ months.
The bottom line is that it will be approved when it gets approved, not a second before.
You will do the "happy dance" when you finally get the approval.

Re: Form 1 SBR status update question
Honestly, I'm not sure why I'm so anxious about it. My mating Form 4 suppressor likely won't be approved until at least August, so there really isn't any rush.

Um, please post a pic of the RZR with mounted AK.
