"Witness Protection" Remington 870 AOW
"Witness Protection" Remington 870 AOW
I found an old Automatic Weaponry "WP870" and jumped on it.
Remington "870 Magnum" base with a 12" barrel with (previously Tritium) front sight. Four plus one capacity. The barrel is internally threaded for RemChoke tubes.
Haven't received the original wood furniture, but it'll be "sportin' wood" soon

I've always wanted one and was lucky to find this one.Third_Rail wrote:Seriously, though, great gun. Any more pictures? Is that the speedfeed stock?
It probably is a Speedfeed, I have two original Wilson Polymer Pistol Grips, marked "WAC" and have an original Wilson Arms wood set coming
Haven't done any other photos yet

While not original like this man has there are plenty of places to get current production guns in a similar configuration except it will be on the cheaper Express host rather than the Police Magnum.Third_Rail wrote:I hate you. I just filled out another form 1 and check, I simply MUST have an 870 like that.

All I have on my 870 now is a long vent rib barrel. Where would I get a cheap plain blue barrel to chop back?
Nevermind. CheaperThanDirt.com, $100 or so.

I do the 12" bbl guns with choke tubes. I can fix you up with bbls or complete guns in your choice of finish.

I have paper floating on a Remington 870 SBS. Can you retro-fit existing barrels to chokes?

Chokes
Chokes can be installed, Remington barrels are not always thick enough when cut off to take factry Remington choke tubes, sometimes one has to have another companies tubes installed.

It's $5 to transfer, if you make it yourself it's $200. You can cut anything down, but if you want to make an Any Other Weapon (the subject of this thread) you have to start with a shotgun that has never had a buttstock and was registered by the manufacturer as such.saltydecimator wrote:so is the tax stamp only 5 bucks for these? and can you cut anything down, just as long as you fill out the form, or is it like the 86 thing where it had to have been manufactured before that date? sorry for the uninformed questions, but you guys seem like the people to ask

I usually install Tru-Chokes due to wall thickness of the bbls. Also, Tru-Chokes allow for a much larger selection of high quality tubes than RemChoke.
To answer the question, I can install tubes into almost any bbl. But usually it will be TruChokes. The cost for installation is $100 plus tubes on your bbl; or I can start a new or used bbl shorten and install tubes and sights and send you a finished package.
To answer the AOW question, AOWs must be made from pistol gripped shotgun (and remain pistol gripped) and cost $5 on F4 but $200 on F1. The SBS are $200 on F1 or F4, and give you the option of buttstock or pistol grip. I would suggest that if you live in a state that allows SBS, go that way so that you can configure the gun however you want.

Important items to think about would be factory or aftermarket barrel, vent rib or plain, length of barrel, type of sights plain bead or truglo etc.
Parkerized, blued, Molykoted?

Scattergun Technologies
Didn't Scattergun make one of the "witness protection" AOW, back in the 80s, long before Wilson bought them?

Yes. They called it the "00 Concealment Model"

Uber Tactical
Of course with the AOW you don't get to put the Uber Tactical M16 buttstock onto your shotty.

Searching near and far. Ended up a friend had a spare set for his.
The Breacher will take the same pistol grips, but the fore end is shorter, it's also two inches shorter in the barrel
