This looks like a modern DPMS lower, can someone explain to me the ways it is legal? I am a NFA newbie

Looks like a post sample to me.

An 01/SOT dealer with a sample letter can buy one.
An 07/SOT can make one.

I don't believe it can be transferrable.

Imported machineguns must be registered pre 68 to be transferable
US manuf. machineguns must be registered pre 1986 to be transferable

Any other guns are for Law Enf. or dealers who sell to law enf.

Awesome Pic... Real machine-gun, UTG (Airsoft company) railed forearm. Any bets on if the light/optics are real vs. Chinese knock-offs?

It could have a DIAS or a Lightning Link in reality.
The "new" lower would prob have to be milled to accept either.

Not really - that pin above the selector is for the auto sear. That hole makes the lower a MG - even if the auto parts aren't installed.

There is no real way for that lower to be a transferable MG. It could be a fake ... someone could have taken a semi-auto lower, and put a little silver sticky dot of some type on the lower.

But it looks real to me.

True - but if it is the right size hole, in the right place .... the ATF will consider that a post 86 - with the correct installed parts - or not.

The fake sear holes do not go all the way through.

Sear hole(s) or not, any AR that allows the safety/selector switch to move into that position would make me nervous. I'd leave it alone.

Its a post sample

Post by rapidfirearms »

It is a post sample. Only transferable to LEO or other SOT dealer with demo letter.

It looks identical except i have a YHM rail to the dedicated m16- 22 i just built.

I need to order some of the 50 round mags for it too. The hole above the selector is an auto sear hole.

BlackDog either put there manufacturing marks on the other side, or asked the ATF for a variance.
