What should I look for when buying an M16? It looks clean.

Looks good to me and like a good deal. Keep in mind I don't own any mg's, nor do I have any money.

Sounds like a good price.

It's a shame that laws have so distorted this market that such a tool should have to cost that much. Good luck with the purchase and enjoy if you move ahead!

I have a basic distrust of anybody that has owned a machine gun for 12 years and not fired it.

Last time I was day-dreaming about buying one they were around $16k on average. That looks to be in good shape for that price.

You never know, for the amount of money we're talking... Some people don't shoot them.

That being said, if you're relatively close to them, I might go have a look at it.

Just my opinion.

My uncle has several that he hasn't fired. He also has 6 or 7 transferable Colts and another few off-brand M16's that he shoots on a regular basis. He was smart back in the early to mid 80's.

What's so funny about me not owning any mg's or not having any money?
Frankly, I think it's pretty sad. I know I'm depressed. :( :P

I would look in my home state first. Why dick around with guns that needs to be transfered into your state. Waiting on NFA sucks enough why double your wait time?

I shot mine today. Semi auto only. Ha. Funny how I like having M16s but I shot it for accuracy.

This goes back to why a lightning link or DIAS is lame - it is not the full auto which is the cool part - it is having an M16. Having a DIAS does not give you an M16.

If you have a lightning link or RDIAS you'd like to get rid of for a few of hundred let me know, I can put my next suppressor purchase off a bit for that

I would love to expand from suppressors to MG's, I just don't have the coin for that game. I do get the pull of 'authentic' ownership, though. The only P7m8 I could afford was a refurb, and while I loved the thing it still never felt 'authentic.'

Yeah I agree looks good, I want a M16 bad but it's a little farther down on the list right now.
Man if you can buy it, you won't regret it.

Totally disagree. I don't care about a prancing pony, or an engraving on the side, I care about functionality. I can take a Bushmaster and beat the snot out of it, knowing that the sear is safely tucked inside. When something breaks, it's a non-event. I don't freak out if there's a scratch on my "registered receiver." If the pin holes get egged, I sell the lower and buy a new one.

I can play with MGI lowers, machine my own, do oddball things. What's not to like?

With all due respect.

Are you high?

Last time I checked it was the " World's Largest MACHINE GUN Shoot" not the "World's Largest Mil Spec Machine Gun Shoot".

The Full Auto part is exactly why it's Cool!!!!!!

I wish you were kidding, but i think you are serious.

Hey just make sure it has not been welded, if not then a pretty good deal. I would look for an A2 unless you like A1 for the vintage part but once you change upper, stock, and grip it wont even look like an A1. Go for an Hk 4,000$upper or Lwrc upper 1,500. As far as if you are going to suppressor it go with a Knights Armament.
