It's a free country. He can be full of s--t if he wants.
It surprises no end that people ascribe weight to the opinions of celebrities. This guy is not a bad actor, and he's had a couple of good parts including the incredibly popular character on one of the most popular TV franchises in history. Clearly, that doesn't make him an expert on public policy or a Constitutional scholar. I don't think anybody here is swayed by his opinions, but there are people out there who give an ear to the opinions of people that play the parts or the music they like to hear.
Once Elvis was asked to weigh in on the right or wrong of US involvement in Viet Nam. He said something to the effect of "I just sing songs, I'm not the guy to ask about that...."
