Gun Industry experts stumped on record gun sales

Gun Industry experts all predicted that gun sales would drop off if Trump won; and yet, Black Friday gun sales set an all-time new record. Presumably, the loss by Hildabeast was expected to lower gun and ammo sales, as the threat of new gun-control laws and regulations faded.

One reason cited by Dr. John Lott is that CCW permits continue to surge, with over 15 million now in the USA. Many of those are women, who are mostly new shooters.

Secondly, prices seem good, and maybe many people who put off buying guns and ammo have decided to jump in.

Third, suppressor sales are still very strong, but part of that may be all the states who've legalized hunting with suppressors in the last few years.

Why do you think sales of guns and ammo are so strong right now?

I sometimes hear the counter-argument that gun-ownership is down. Meaning that while new gun sales soar, it's simply due to a small contingent of the population buying more guns... as though each gun-owner has 20+ firearms.

That viewpoint does have some merit, as it seems that many gun-owners do own more than one firearm. Of course, that doesn't explain the sky-rocket in CCW permits.

Maybe people are applying for permits, but not buying guns? Meanwhile, ~1% of the population owns 99% of the guns and continues to buy more??

 You're right. The argument makes no sense.

I think that people want to defend themselves from the BLM and other Rioters, Activists, Criminals. Bummer still hasn't left office. Some may worry that Trump won't make it to Jan20. That some Conspiracy like "Unfaithful Electors" may prevent his Inauguration. Or that Martial Law may still be on the Table.

Plus, why would people want LESS firearms? If Hillary got in, they may fear Confiscation. W Trump in, they are proud and want to exercise their Freedoms for the next 4yrs. They know that openness about their Ownership won't be punished by "Shadow Agencies" monitoring everything that they do.

Perhaps the following NBC2 report from Naples Florida will help your understanding; the on-air proto-journalist is Rachel Polansky.

http://www.nbc-2.com/story/33917026/nbc ... ally-carry

Rachel seems to have uncovered a major flaw in the NICS system in Florida. Here's the gist of her ground-breaking investigative report...
300,000 people legally bought guns in Florida in the last four months. Only 100,000 people got their licenses to carry in the same time frame.

What does that mean for the other 200,000 people? Do they already have their licenses? Are they illegally carrying?

The NBC2 Investigators found out no one knows for sure because two different state agencies handle Florida’s gun buying-and-carrying process.
The comments were not very kind to Rachel.
