Baltimore is the clear winner for 2017

The stats are in and Baltimore wins by a huge margin for the entire USA; their homicide rate for 2017 is 55.8 homicides per 100,000 population (343 as of today)--that's definitely 3rd world performance levels.

Compare Baltimore's homicide rate to the entire State of Colorado which is about 3.0/100,000 (189 total homicides for the entire State in 2016).

Yes, Chicago might challenge claim to the title because they have 676 homicides so far in 2017(the highest totals, plus 2921 shot and wounded), but Chicago's population is multiples of Baltimore resulting in a per-capita of ~25/100,000.

At 55.8/100,000, Baltimore would be #3 on the world list, between Venezuela & El Salvador.
The US, as a whole, is ranked #11 (2014 list).
However, we're listed in spot #46 on the death/gun list. This is fantastic, considering we have 134% more firearms than the country with the second most. So much for "more guns = more deaths"

I tend to subscribe to more of a population density with a sprinkle of income per capita theory rather than a straight firearm per capita theory.
