Dude had an AK, couple of Ruger pistols, and a suppressor. The female judge ruled in his favour as the cops' search and general handling of the case was completely wonky. I really doubt he'll ever see his guns again, but hey, at least he's walking away. If they'd bothered obtaining a warrant he would likely face 10 years or more under Canada's ridiculous laws.

I’d appreciate it more if cops quit breaking the law and started acting like intelligent adults.

Yeah, well, that would take a major shift in how society works. For now it seems police are lead to believe that they are demigods.
