Self Defense Insurance, 2nd plan dumped by insurer

Post by johndoe3 »

Good blog article by John Boch, the head of GSSF in Illinois. The underwriting insurance company for Second Call Defense suddenly dumped them this past week with no prior notice (AmWINS). This move to gun control (choosing to become a gun bigot) by AmWINS suddenly left all Second Call Defense members without self-defense insurance coverage that they had paid for (they sent Notices of Nonrenewal of Insurance to all Second Call members).

Fortunately, Second Call Defense had a contingency plan of action in place, and they immediately contracted with Rockwood Insurance to provide ongoing insurance to all Second Call Defense members. There might be confusion and seeming lapses for a couple of weeks as the new underwriter takes over everything.

AmWINS is to be condemned and avoided by pro-gun people, and grateful thanks to Rockwood Insurance.

Too bad they can't complain to the state insurance commissioner. Illinois...no point.
The moments I was censored was the moment that I won. That's twice, now. Thanks jwbaker, et al, for my victories.

Actually...Second Call Defense is a provider of self-defense insurance in all 50 States--it's one of the larger providers. They (or their members) could complain to the Insurance Commissioner in any State; but I doubt that anything could be done. Insurance companies can decide to change their lines of business.

The lawsuit by NRA Carry Guard against the State of NY is because the Guv Cuomo conspired to drive them out of business in NY.

The following article provides complete info on all the issues for which the NRA is suing the State of NY and Guv Cuomo in federal court.

For the American Civil Liberties Union and the Texas Public Policy Foundation, groups on opposite ends of the constitutional rights spectrum, the controversy created odd bedfellows. Both urged Senior U.S. District Judge Thomas McAvoy in amicus briefs to advance the NRA’s case.

The Texas foundation stated bluntly in its brief: “The government may not bully its citizens into not doing business with organizations with whom it disagrees politically.”

Meanwhile the ACLU warned that dismissal of the NRA’s suit “would set a dangerous precedent for advocacy groups,” no matter their viewpoint, because public officials would be encouraged to use their regulatory power against the “disfavored.”
