Barrel coating

Post by gunningbadger »

I've got a barrel that's in stainless right now and wanted it costed black. I don't have the set up to do it right. Do you all have anyone you'd recommend. Fast and good are more important than cheap.

Reasonable with a fast turnaround. Or find a smith that gets stuff nitrided regularly.

How much thickness does that add? Would a tight chamber become un-usable after coating?

.0004 or so. It penetrates the surface more than it builds on the surface usually penetrating to a depth of .010 - .020. If your chamber was tight necked down to .001 no neck turn or something I suppose it could cause issues but not particularly likely.
