Dr. John Lott's new book, The War on Guns: Arming Yourself Against Gun Control Lies, is a superb resource and tool to refute much of the onslaught of anti-gun talking points and recent published so-called research studies. I read the book in the last 2 weeks, and highly recommend it for purchase.

Yes, John Lott does use statistical studies in the book to disprove a number of badly done gun-control medical studies. However. in doing so he provides solid evidence to refute said studies and explains how they twist data to appeal to emotions in order to increase gun-control.

For example, a 2014 research article in Pediatrics journal, claimed that incidents involving firearms sent 7,391 children per year to the hospital and 453 to the morgue. Dr. Lott investigated the data and incidents and shows that the trickery in this widely cited medical study actually redefined children as those up to 20 years old. The vast majority of the 7,391 children sent to the hospital were 17-19 years old and got wounded or killed as a result of assaults initiated by them or in revenge gang shootings. Yet the Leftists/Progressives gravely announce these statistics in order to sway the uninformed plebes that we need more gun control in order to save the children. The lie is: Redefine young adult criminals as children and then tug at the heartstrings for gun control to protect the children.

BTW, the above trickery in redefining children is being used in Texas right now, where those against concealed carry on University campuses are redefining children as all college students including Grad students. Their argument is that concealed carry on Campus shouldn't be allowed, because these are all children and children sometimes do stupid things.

Another lie from the Left: keeping a gun in the home is associated with increased homicide risk. John Lott investigated the data and found that in only 8 of the 444 cases included in the published study was a gun from the home the actual murder weapon. Lott shows that guns are killing people in homes because "intruders bring guns into the home." Yet the researchers and Press twisted the data to try and convince the unwashed masses that buying a gun for self-protection only increases the likelihood of that gun killing someone in the home, when the data doesn't show that at all. It is a master sleight of hand by those pushing gun control.

Those are just 2 of the many refutations in John Lott's new book, The War on Guns; buy it if you want to suitably equipped to counter the Left's lies. The book is a keeper.
