I have this on my AR http://www.botachtactical.com/fabtpod.html and I like it, it works great as a bipod, but it does weigh more than a normal fore-grip. I picked it up because I figured it made more sense than having both a fore-grip and a bipod, and i have never been a fan of the grip-pod.

Anyway, just my $.02.

Thanks Casper, this is going to be a mostly bench/ prone shooting gun so then need for a vertical foregrip is not there, also I am looking for a more adjustable bi-pod. Thanks for your recommendations though.

Harris - get the swivel version - change out the lock knob for lever.

This, I have both the swivel and non-swivel in the 9-13" length. They're both excellent. Though I'm not using the non-swivel one right now.

Honestly I know harris is a proven design but I despise the attachment method of using the sling swivel, if they made a 1913 direct mount then I would go with them.....

In that case check out the GG&G [just stay away from their hawks] or see if you can find a Bobro [my personal favorite].

Yeah I had my heart set on a bobro ver. 3.... in the link to the first thread I started I was whining on how they are next to impossible to find...... Has anyone had any experience with the Tango Down bipod? or the versa pod? I like the GGG.... looking promising

I use a harris bipod with a Larue quick detach setup for a rail system. You can see it on the camo Savage.
