Cz makes a bolt action. There's also always the classic sks. Though it appears you may be looking for a 7.62x51 and not a 7.62x39

Why? Do you already have an AK and SKS?

That one on the top is the PWS Diablo in 762x39. It groups the size of a quarter or smaller at 100 yards using Wolf 123gr FMJ. I have found it to be thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommend their upper if you are interested in an SBR project. You get the reliability of the PWS piston system along with the fit/finish/ergonomics of the AR. I look at it as the 'best of both worlds,' if you will:

I normally find just about any machine nice to look at, but goddamn. That is, as far as I can remember, the first AR I've seen that is downright hideous. I'd still love to own one, seems like it really would be the best of both worlds. :)
RIP Dave. You will be missed.

I am using the C-Products Stainless 30 rounders. I got 7 of them last year. They run great.

I'm not interested in Rifles that shoot Minute of Barn.
They don't. And there are many US made barrels you could swap in if you're concerned. And the ammo isn't exactly the best MOA either.

What is it you want to do with the rifle? What's your plan?

Well the 2"-6" at 100 yards is about the quality of most cheap (wolf, brown bear, etc...) 7.62x39, not necessarily the gun...

IE: It really doesn't matter what you shoot it out of. So an AK or SKS would be cheapest. If you want better accuracy, you'll want to buy better 7.62x39 ammo, which is just as expensive as 7.62x51. And this would be breaking your desire to stay with cheap ammo. In summation: if you use really cheap ammo (like wolf, brown bear, etc...) in an expensive gun you will have nearly the same accuracy as cheap ammo in a cheap gun.

I was curious as to your usage. If it's just because you like the look/feel of battle rifles for "sporting" or "collectible" purposes, then, cool. :D But, if you're looking for a serious rifle for SHTF or home defense, I would go an entirely different route.

My 7" Primary Weapons Systems Diablo takes Wolf Performance Ammunition Military Classic Mil-Spec 7.62x39mm 124 Gr. FMJ Non-Corrosive Berdan Primed Steel Case Cartridges and groups them in a quarter at 100 yards repeatedly.

Sigs handguns are still top notch, except the mosquito, but I personally havent abused one of thier newer rifles enough to tell. Not too fond of their new AR, and I dont like the ergonomics of the 556. It probably wouldnt be noticable if I hadnt spent so much time on the AR platform. After remembering that they have it though, I may buy one in 7.62x39.
Here is something else to consider. Why not just put that much money into an AK, and have an awesome gun then? Ive got an AK with a great trigger, that actually shoots good. It is getting alot of upgrades here shortly.
