Anyone on here tried this stuff yet? Frog Lube cleaner, lubricant, protectant. It is bio based with no petroleum products. Just ordered for the first time and got it in the mail today. Purchased the liquid and paste product. All I can say is this stuff is amazing! Cleaned my AR15 today after having approx. 1000 rounds fired through it with suppressor attached. I honestly don't look forward to cleaning this rifle after such hard use, but this stuff really made the cleaning job easier and faster. It's a bit pricey but I am sold.

How much was it? I think I found it but no price.

It's been getting pretty solid reviews over on m4c.net I think I'll try it once my Slip2000 runs out.

$38.00 for the kit. There is also an 8 oz liquid and 8 oz paste you can purchase as well. The kit I purchased is great if you want to try the liquid and the paste as well. I found that I like the liquid for general lubrication on small parts, slides, ejectors, etc and use the paste for cleaning and to put a final coat on the gun. The recommendation is to use a blow dryer to heat up the metal parts before you apply it. Again, I can't believe how well this product removes all the carbon with ease. It has a nice spearmint smell. No petroleum products so the wife won't complain about the foul odor of cleaning your weapons like my wife does.

Sounds great but sad about the smell.

Petroleum products is the husbands response to nail polish that the wife uses! Wonder if the nicer smell will mean she will actually clean her guns now?

Two questions I can't find answers for.

Some articles say FrogLube won't break down under extreme stress and discourages leading. Has anyone treated 22lr baffles with it to see if it makes them easier to clean?

Everything says it's biodegradable. So how long can you go between treatments/lubes before you must retreat the part? The grease I used on internal parts will probably be the last thing the cockroaches eat so "biodegradable" seems like an odd "benefit" for a gun lube that you'll be trusting to protect parts where the sun rarely shines.

ETA: Apparently one of the primary ingredients in FrogLube is Polyalphaolefin (PAO) which is also the base for Mobil 1 motor oil. Here's a link to a guy that compared Mobil 1 to RemOil and MilTec http://www.democraticunderground.com/di ... s=271x1301

Been using Mobil 1 for years.

Smells, looks, and feels a whole lot like T/C bore butter which has a lot of the same claims.......just sayin

My wife likes the smell of it a LOT better than any other gun cleaner, so much so she doesn't mind at all if I clean guns right next to her. That reason alone made it worth the switch, and I'm extremely happy.

Wanted to answer a couple of points here as someone that has a lot of time using and now selling the product.

I personally would not put it in a suppressor. I have used and also sell another product called Gun Shield which allows you to wipe off the baffles with a soft rag. FrogLube however does work very well as a cleaner in those areas if you do not apply Gun Shield.

As for reapplication of the product. I have a crock pot that I drop my pistols into after every time shooting and that crock pot is filled with the liquid. So I re-treat the weapon each time I clean it and shoot it.

PAO is the additive that is put into the liquid FrogLube to make it stay liquid. Otherwise the product will return to its original paste like state when it is cooled off.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm relatively new here and just found this. I've used FL exclusively for over 4 years now and can't say enough about it if applied correctly. I've got a Recce 7 in jail now and I'm interested to see if anyone has tried Frog Lube in their can. I'm not talking about gobs of it...just a liberal amount to see how it counteracts carbon build-up. Anyway thanks in advance.

Well I've applied and treated my Recce 7 with a small squirt and I've been heating it and rotating it every so often to ensure thorough coating. I will make sure I have all excess out of the can before I shoot it.

There are other threads around here on the same topic, the conclusion is almost anything with a silicon base will help make buildup easier to remove.

Search for silicon, silicone, brake fluid, etc.

For cleaning I'm a Gunzilla fan. Then I just use plain ol' boring FP10 for lube.
