Pistol engraving? I need a RIP theme

Post by Fireman1291 »

It is with deep sadness I am here. My good friend and fellow firefighter lost his wife in a motorcycle accident Friday. We were a close group and all our wives would hang out and we would all go ride on the weekend. She nicked a curb at 35MPH while turning and was thrown from the bike and broke her neck when she hit the pavement. My poor brother james was riding next to her on his bike and worked his wife for 10min before FD arrived. I can't begin to imagine how horrible that must have been. Rachel was a cool woman and loved riding offroad, horses, motorcycles, and shooting. She even shot her first suppressed gun in my backyard. A USP45 with Osprey45, she was so excited. She was licensed to carry and had her Sig P232 on her that night. She loved that gun.

I want to get some scroll work and her name on the slide. Its a stainless P232. Does anyone here know the best place to send it? I've never gotten any type of scroll work done. I highly appreciate it.

On another note, James is going through the stages right now....we will get him through this. He has 100's of fellow FF's to lean on. We have been with him every step of the way. Hes a lucky man to have shared a marriage with that woman. I really want this scroll work to turn out classy as hes going to carry her gun everyday.

Sorry if im rambling, my head is all over the place right now. We lay her to rest tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about this, my heart goes out to your friend and his friends/family. What type of scroll work were you looking at? I don't know if the machines I have access to can do it or not, but I'll gladly check and let you know. PM me an example and I'll see what the guys can do for you.

Adam.

I haven't done any scrolling with our CNC engraver but will see what we have in our libraries and see if anything would work.

I have a full sized picture of the P232, will let you know if anything could line up.

Our heart goes out to James and everyone affected.

Thanks all. I'm still trying to get ahold of the pistol. James parents have it as he threw it and her purse in their backseat the night of the accident. They had just met his parents for dinner and she crashed maybe 1/4 mi after leaving the parking lot.

The funeral was Thurdsay and it was nice, a real tribute to her life. The church had standing room only and over 100 firefighters came. The persession was over 200 cars long with police and fire escort. It was a rough day but we will get him through it.

I want to get "Rachel" on one side and "fathead" on the other....and inside joke between them. With some minor scroll work accenting the wording. Once I have my hand on the pistol I can workout the layout. Thanks all!

thegunengraver.com seems trust-worthy. I was going to have him make some mammoth ivory grips & engrave/scrimshaw them but waited too long...not enough material was left to do a non-standard grip.

had a friend die a few years back while riding his harley with his girlfriend on the back, he was going around a turn at a leisure speed & hit some loose chat in Colo Springs & lights out...his gf just had a few cuts & bruises, nothing serious. Reverse situation of your friend but shitty either way
