Octane 45 sound test

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Octane 45 sounds like it's the way to go for a .45 can

You can't argue with data like that.

Will the results vary if the host is changed?

I would certainly expect the host to make a difference. Not sure how quiet the HK is in comparison to others.

Yes, ammo and host , day to day all three can very. 1911 should be more quiet host.

I would be happy with 1-2 DB louder just for the easy of cleaning and SS for shooting lead! The test was nice surprise. :P

Yes, you can consider this as being tangible results. It doesn't get any better than this for comparisons IMO.

I wish they would post a test running them wet. AAC's site says the Ti-Rant .45 will hit 125dB with 5cc's of water in it. I wonder if the Octane's performance will increase similarly.

Well, the test would also prove if AAC's claim is accurate. I'm not saying it is or it isn't; AAC is the only source that I've seen (unless another is out there) saying that AAC's product performs to that level. I don't know if that's an average dB measurement, or the lowest number their test hit so they published it (it could be accurate and misleading at the same time) ...that's the beauty of a test like the one in the video. It cuts to the chase and gives you a black and white result.

I'd like to follow up by saying I'm not inferring AAC, or any other company, would intentionally mislead customers or lie about numbers. I know there have been some big debates about that in the past but I'm not dredging that up. I have no silencer company allegiance. I am loyal to good products, bottom line.

I can't view youtube due to connection restraints. Can someone describe the video.
Yes, I know... it's pretty lame, but I'm in the market for a 45 can soon and this interests me.

Anyone in OR want to buy an Osprey?

The story to me isn't the average, the story is the first round and then how many rounds till it produces its lowest meter reading.

Octane - 135+ first round
Ti Rant - 135+ first round
Osprey - 138 + first round

By 4th round the Octane was in the 130's.

Take apart to boot....

Good luck

When will these be available?

Only thing I don't like about SWR / SilencerCo is the wait.

I think one of these puppies is gonna work famously on an HK UMP and another on SIG pistols ... with cast ammo. No giggle switches to stress the can, but real need for serviceability.

Apparently the Major bought the entire first shipment again. Since he went "dealer only" he doesn't do me a bit of good price wise.

By mentioning this, are you inferring that a group buy was a possability? I'd be all over that if a bunch of us got together, ready to buy and we ended up getting a better price.

I believe it means he lives in Oregon and has his Osprey for sale.
