Repurposing Gemtech Mossad Suppressor

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Repurposing Gemtech Mossad Suppressor

Post by Mike M. »

I'm in the process of selling my Uzi (having no place to shoot it within 100 miles), but the buyer doesn't want the suppressor. I'd like to use it on a 5.56 mm rifle, but don't think the can could take it. I've already got a 9mm pistol can. Any ideas of what else to do with it?

300BLK sounds like a plan, just get ready for some custom adapter to make it work with the Uzi threads.

It will NOT hold up on a 5.56mm/.223Rem.

300 Blackout upper, that can would be a good match. No place to shoot for 100 miles?
The Gemtech MK9K is the only supressor I use nowadays

That's what I was thinking. Heck it's even suppressed so it should make it easier to find a place to plink.

Thoughts on a semi-auto Uzi, MP5.......?

Can you convert it to use with a pistol?

I have an Uzi and Mossad, like the combo, but it vaguely irritates me that the Mossad cannot be used on other weapons.

With this thought I poked around, lo and behold, you can buy a barrel for the 9mm AR that can accept the Mossad, or there are adapters that can be added to the 9mm AR thread. I'd think any 9mm carbine could be adapted to the Mossad.

It kind of sucks that the market for used suppressors is so weak due to the tax stamp.

Maybe. I wrestled with the decision for a while. But I've got nowhere to shoot it...and in truth, my interests have always been more on the precision side of the house. I can fund quite a bit of other hardware (including a 5.56 suppressor) with the proceeds.

Where? That would appeal to me.

IIRC Washington Tom, a regular on Bowers' Subguns web site, does occasional runs of them. I'll see if I can look it up, it's been years.

Here's another alternative, although it'd be potentially expensive... find a big, fat barrel blank in 9mm, and simply turn it to profile. Everything at the muzzle end is turned and threaded to emulate an Uzi barrel plus threads, minus barrel nut. Make the breech AR. Chamber, and you're done. Any competent machinist, given the prints, could do one.
