Silencers in Australia
for all my Australian friends. There has been a push by the game council of n.s.w .to use silencers in n.s.w by hunters for hunting feral animals. full article in the Sydney Morning Herald 26 feb 2013. Does not sound good, however WE CAN allready own a silencer in n.s.w and w.a australia for this reason. If u follow a few rules check out [ n.s.w. police registry ] for full info, 127 dollars for permint which is only good for 5 years.

Goodness gracious, friend Enfield.
Just like here in USA .... of course only in designated neighborhoods of Chicago, Washington D.C., N.Y., and
other major cities where, like Obama's directives to ignore illegals, LEOs and BATF cannot tread as mayors
do not support them. There gang bangers need no approval to obtain any weapons and NFA items they desire,
no requirements for background checks, registration, etc.
Unfortunately most of us do not fit the 'profile' to be
allowed to join.

Can you own handguns in Zealand or Austrailia?

Yes in NZ, we have one licence endorsement if you want to own and shoot handguns and another collectors endorsement which will allow just about anything (MGs, SMGs whatever) but they are not allowed to be fired.vike wrote:Can you own handguns in Zealand or Austrailia?

So you can have it but they trust you to never shoot it??

We can own hand guns, and semies alot of bs to go through thou.
Even to own a semi you have to be an aproved goverment pest control hunter. Or farmer with a very large farm on which is your main sorce of income,
No more then a 10 shot mag in anything. Even my kids have to wait until they are 12 years old for a shot down the range. The worst thing is only about 180,000 people have gun permits vs 20,000000 tree huging hippies.

So what is the penalty if you are caught firing it?Enfield577 wrote:Yes that is pretty much it, it can be in oprational condition (though stored with a vital part missing) and you can get ammo

The 'rules' may not be hard for you to live with... it would be sheer torture for me. I can't imagine owning functional MG's and not being able to burn through a few mags or belts here and there.

You would likely lose your licence and get a hefty finerockman96 wrote:So what is the penalty if you are caught firing it?Enfield577 wrote:Yes that is pretty much it, it can be in oprational condition (though stored with a vital part missing) and you can get ammo

Besides the price of ammo out here kind of limits that sort of thing.

Re: Silencers in Australia
I'm not sure I see the point of owning them if you can't shoot them. Well...unless you are just waiting for a civil war before you dust them off.Enfield577 wrote:You would likely lose your licence and get a hefty finerockman96 wrote:So what is the penalty if you are caught firing it?Enfield577 wrote:Yes that is pretty much it, it can be in oprational condition (though stored with a vital part missing) and you can get ammo

Think of them like you would in a museum, guns, cars, aircraft etc.
Still good to able to own such things
