makes you wonder

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Remington, like most major corporations, only cares about the money.

Once the bean counters/upper management/board see the company losing actual dollars from their decision, then they will look at moving.

They have a paid-off building and tons of grants/subsidies. They have no reason to move yet.

They also have contractual obligations with the military....like $80 million in M2010 sniper rifles. A move could disrupt meeting the terms of the contract, as well as delay fielding rifles to those who need them. While it would be nice to see them move to a gun friendly state, I certainly don't blame them.

i guess this is were decision,s are made and were lines in the sand are drawn.i most certainly understand contract,s and obligation,s. i also understand loyalty to those that helped you become such a huge success by buying your products over the years.the comments at the bottom of the article express the way people feel and Remington needs to consider this.

Do you really think a company with such history in NY and obligations that is owned by a private group that's sole purpose is to make money for its investors would just up and leave overnight?
Really!

Oh and I think doubloon understands more than most as he has been tested.

The clue is it was actually continuity who claimed to have been tested and CT's joke at my expense is based on a response to that claim.

But I'm probably wasting my breath because I really don't expect you to be capable of understanding since you had to ask.

Moving a large company is a big undertaking that has a lot of cost. It would also mean that they would not be able to fulfill contracts that are already in place. Magpul is a small company so it is not such a big deal. This would mean most of Remington's employees would not move so it would be almost a total retraining of the entire work force.

i understand about all the cost and problems of moving.it goes back to my comment of being all about money and not loyalty to its customers that have supported them through all the years.now the customers need the gun industry,s support and if they dont get it,then as other,s have said .... them.

So how would shutting down a plant during the middle of the biggest demand in history, losing most of its skilled employees, taking at least a year to get back to having anywhere near the same skilled workforce, and getting back to the production level they are at be loyal to its customers?

Longer waits for products, no product availability, and quality issues as the new workforce learns to make the products? That would not be loyalty to their customers.

How about loyalty to their employees?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmPatzJa ... youtu.beso if the gun laws that are presently trying to be passed are passed how would that benefit. you talk of longer wait,s for products, you wont have to worry because YOU an I wont be aloud to own the products.availability and quality will be of no concern for the average citizen.as for the work force producing guns, how much work force is needed for just government contracts seeing how they will be the only ones allowed to own guns.as far as loyalty to there customer ,s that wont be you and i and as far as loyalty to employees, when money is involved ive seen what happens to loyalty. as i said before sometimes a line must be drawn and sides chosen. pick which side of the fence you want to be on.

But the line in the sand is theirs to choose. You cannot choose what line in the sand a company must make. Do you think a company leaving New York would change the law? Companies this size come and go in New York. It willtake much more than that. Who knows, they may be working on moving as we speak. Having moved a manufacturing plant with over 500 employees, I can say that it is not a quick process and sometimes things cannot be announced until certain things are done and looked into in order to not break other laws and contracts already in place.

So true. While we applaud MagPul and other companies that are leaving these gun-unfriendly states we have to realize that their contributions to their respective states economies are really not that significant.

Now if these companies would cease doing business with all forms of government from PD's all the way to the DOD, then we might actually see some changes made...
