Video: SWR Specwar 556

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Video: SWR Specwar 556

Post by Fireman1291 »

I finally had a couple hours to get this video edited. It's been a BUSY past couple of weeks. Thanks for sticking with me.

The next video will be the SWR Octane45 review which will be MUCH longer as I highlight the versatility it has by showing all the hosts it can mount to and be used on.

I wish I had more live shooting footage of the Specwar 556 but time was limited that day. I will say that it thoroughly impressed me. The sound and tone signature was great, no blowback, looks business like, and best of all it's fairly cheap considering the materials and R&D. I would love to own one one day. Maybe after my 762 Specwar stamp comes in ;)

How does the suppression and blowback compare with the Saker?

Suppression was better and less blowback.

Hmmm...other than mounts, slightly shorter size and slightly lower weight, why would one select the Saker over the Specwar 556?

Durability. Full auto down to 7". Replaceable front cap. One handed operation for cans under rails.

How noticeable was the difference? Enough to be a selling point between the two or just splitting hairs on paper?

I just watched that silencershop Saker video again....that Saker trifecta mounting system is really slick, and yeah...didn't realize one could put the Saker under a handguard....nice!

THIS. The saker is one tough son-of-a-bitch. For those looking for a can on a budget that don't mind the mounts, the Specwar is your ticket. For those that would like multi mount capabilities IE- Thread on, AAC, YHM, and SWR/Silencerco then the Saker is your ticket.

Other than the hoplon (which is a big deal) is there anything else that makes the saker tougher than the specwar?

From what I understand the Hoplon is the reason it is so tough. When combined with the stellite material it makes for a tough can that will handle a 7" bbl.

Difference in blowback? Splitting hairs or enough to be a factor when deciding on a can?

I only noticed blowback on the Saker. However I shot it on my SBR and not the 16" gun. I'd say it's splitting hairs. Let the other pros/cons decide for you depending on your needs.
